No more Duke?

After almost 13 years of development, the publisher sued 3D Realms and it looks like the Duke Nukem Forever is canceled for good. And just when the most of the game was completed. It's pretty sad.

Read the story about the guy who tried to make the perfect game but couldn't keep up with the fast changing world of technology. Pretty interesting read, really:

The game was so long in development so needed to change the engine (core of the game) a few times and give Duke complete makeover.

The few testers who had a chance to play it even said the game had less bugs and felt more complete than many games currently on shelves in gameshops. Too bad we probably won't have a chance to play it. Well there's still a little chance they'll win at the court and some other publisher will pick it up and help them finish the game but it would be hard to get the rights from take-two.

It was in development long enough to become one of the greatest gaming related running gags of all time. If there was another anticipated game that was delays, you could always say "what comes out first: this or DNF?" and get a good chuckle out of the whole situation. I'm just so cynical about anything related to this game now. I won't believe they were anywhere near done unless 3D Realms were to release the games source code for the heck of it. Why let is go to waste when you could just let the fan community finish things up as they please? They can't profit from abandonware anyway.

I'd love if they release it in any form. The publisher probably won't let them.

Duke Nukem Forever has became a running gag amongst the gaming industry for a long time now. I swear it has been in development for well over a decade now, and is certainly living up to its name lol lol

To be honest though, with all the revolutionary games we have now, and all the jaw-dropping FPS games available, I don't think Duke Nukem has a chance of over-throwing such games as Halo and Call of Duty in the first-person-shooter genre thumbdown

lol I still remember the time when it was first announced. I think the new Duke (if it would come out somehow) would be really refreshing in today's gaming world. And personally I would pick Duke over Halo any day. Even the old one...
