Mac Vs. PC War: Let the battle begin. |
| |
| I am a PC user, and I love PCs because there is so much that you can do with a PC, but it seems like everywhere I go, I encounter Mac users. I know that Macs do not break down very much, but I also know that there are only so many things that a person can do with a Mac. So, PC and Mac users, tell me, which computer do you think is the greatest? | | | | | |

| | Okay, so what is it about PCs that make you prefer them over Macs? I like being able to do work for my university and download music at the same time. | | | |

| | You can do that on a Mac as well. You can use limewire freely without having to really worry about viruses and things like that. But back to the main thing... Mac has an interface which is built for multitasking. This is why Macs are some of the better computers to be doing multimedia work. If you go any recording studio the computers they're using are Macs. You can do university work and download music at the same time with no problem. I do it all the time | | | |

| | If you go to any University they use Super PC which are either mac or PC. I do not think that every recording and any other multimedia users use Macs. I'm pretty sure if you are going to build a PC for $3k it will run faster than any mac. | | | |

| | Alrighty where to begin... I myself am a Mac user and I have to to say that I prefer Mac over PC any day. I have used PCs since I was in elementary school and I can honestly say that Macs are much more reliable. As far as who has the more advanced technology I would have to say PCs do. Anyone seen that tabletop computer Microsoft is working on? Youtube it and you'll be amazed. What Microsoft failed to do was put out a product that worked efficiently and quickly without having to be messing with service packs and all this other stuff. Apple has done a great job at establishing itself as an icon among the new generation and because that it's going to be a very very very long while before Apple ever really has to worry about going out of business. It's also a status thing. You see people driving cars with Apple stickers on the back. It's something that people can be proud of. So I think Apple is going to win this fight by far. It's gotten to the point even windows looks complicated... What say you? | | | | | | |

| | Wow that's nice crime coz not yet happened. Coz the crime will be committed about 30 or 60 days (or getting on stores) from the day iPad introduced by Steve Jobs on his last Keynote. | | | |

| | It's not a crime to have a Mac, but have any of you ever seen a Mac crash? Also, if you do have problems with it or it does crash, the whole computer has to be sent back to the company. | | | |

| | I'm a mildly satisfied PC user. I have never had an opportunity to use a mac. I enjoy the never ending battle because apple fans can tend to be overly invested in the whole argument. Some of them come off as trying to justify their purchase, and over compensating. Everyone who says right click is overrated needs to just take a deep breath, and stop kidding themselves. It's the fourth greatest thing since sliced bread. | | | | | | |

| | It's not a computer debate but an OS debate. I'm using MacOS at work, and it's very reliable, but definitely bad for gaming and I have a desktop with WindowsXP at home for games. Actually, I'm surfing with a Linux notebook : no spywares, no need of an antivirus... Every OS has cons and pros. When I have a task to do, the only question I'm asking me is : can I do it more easily in Linux, MacOS or Windows ? Sorry rogue13xmen13, but the "Mac vs PC" discussion is nonsense. | | | | | | |
unnamedny (498)
|
| | Why is it nonsense? People compare ATI vs Nvidia, or AMD vs Intel. or even OS. It not like comparing Train vs. Car. Even that, in some cases it could be done. Why not compare those 2 ? | | | |
topffer (4071)
|
| | As you know, both Macs and PCs can use Ati or Nvidia, and you can find hacked versions of MacOSX running on AMD. So, what can we compare, if not OSes ? The design of the computers cases ? the logos ? | | | |

| | Maybe we do? but please tell me that people do not buy Mac or Iphones or Macbooks because of bad design and just awesome performance. Trust me I have a computer case that you have never seen in your life. Mac design does not even stand close to it. And it's not because I'm gamer or anything Just I just like to have PC that almost noone has on the planet. | | | |

| | I like PC's because they are easier to work on and work with. A Mac has its own style and just because you hear that they are virus free doesn't mean anything. If they plan to take over the market one day they will be full of the worms that come from the rotten apples at Mac. You can download iTunes on a PC but you can't download Windows 7 on a Mac. | | | | | | |

| | Actually I'm going to disagree with your last statement here. You can run windows on a Mac using a software called "parallel" I think. I can't remember the title of it exactly but something like that. It allows you to run both Mac OSX and windows AT THE SAME TIME. It actually looks kinda funny if you ask me but if you can run both operating systems on the same computer then it's kinda like the only computer you'll ever need. Now THAT you CAN'T do on a PC. | | | |

| | Let's say I use mac with their OS. I have 3 PC's which I need to access remotely time to time. What I use is Radmin (remote Administrator) Question. Would I still be able to access my 3 PC's? Newsgroups. Which software is used to access newsgroups with MAC? What if something goes wrong on your MAC how do you reinstall your system? how does it work? What about games? where do you get them? how many are supported by Mac? What if you want to play some old game which is only works for PC? | | | | | | |

| | Howdy unnamedny! Question 1 Remote Administrator - Apple Remote Desktop 3 ... http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/ .... Actually a high school or even a 13 yr old kid can setup and use that. As long as can read and understand logic and just simple common sense. Question 2 Newsgroups - oh wow that's so classic. So somebody still using these ha. You know RSS? I hope. Anyway you can install MS Office with Entourage Mail with support of your Newsgroup. yeah. sweet..... Or wait for the next this year release of MS OFFICE the 2011 version less the Entourage of course with Outlook now and also of course your Newsgroup..... Plus they are planning to put MS Office on the iPad... yeah sweet.... http://www.tgdaily.com/se... Question 3 Reformat OS Crashed - Well I reformat my iMac on first or early days just for testing, partitioning, making triple boot (windows, linux, mac os x). After about six months I reformat again to delete partitions of windows and linux and just use Mac os x (coz I don't frequently using them but I'll soon reinstalling them on a separate external harddisk just for fun)..... Reformatting because of crashed OS, no not yet or have not yet experience that after almost a year now. I've got lots of applications installed no hang-ups. Except of course when there are so many already applications runnings at same time. But still manageable no hard startup or shutdown. Just wait and quit some other applications. Question 4.... What kind of games? As everybody knows, there are ways to run Windows Games on a Mac... Or you can have games on a PSP, PS3, xBox, Wii, iPhone, iPod Touch, DS. Thanks and Enjoy! myLot! | | | |

| | Apple Remote Desktop tells me that it can control "macs in your network" I meant If you can still control "your PC's from Mac" I have 3 Pc's in my network If I'm going to Use mac with their OS would it still be possible? I mostly use Newsreaders to pass post in news groups and to download and upload binaries. I guess it could be done on mac as well. What's the point of buying MAC if can still run Windows XP? One of my friends (she) bought her a macbook couple of years ago. I think she spent over $1500 on that thing. I did not find anything extremely good in that system except for light weight. I told her that she just wasted way too much money, because she does not need any performance, she only uses it for typing and Web browsing. Why would you need to have 3 OS?? | | | |

| | I forgot to ask one more thing. Right now I'm looking for a blueray burner for my PC If I had MAC would it be possible to replace it's DVD burner with blueray? | | | |
gjabaigar (1094)
|
| | Yep. You can attach bluray players on any Intel Macs either by usb or firewire. Even bluray tray drives on a Mac Pro. But because of legal issues on playing or using the codecs to use bluray titles it is better to use on an installed MS Windows on the Mac. Other solutions by using third party applications but as for now I don't know yet any idea about it. The highest optical to use legally and already installed on Macs are the 25gb HD DVD. Why 3 OS?.... for a geeky nerds like me. Curiosity, testing, experience and fun. And also for programmers to earn a lot of money on developing applications or games on different OS. Good for you friends. If your friend earn money just for only typing and web browsing, well your friend just experiencing a much better different as being a user of computer or the Mac. Apple Remote Desktop. Nope is not only Macs. You have not read all of it. Or even seen the screenshots of MS Windows like Vista or XP. And of course not only MS Windows also other OS like Linux. There is also a free Remote Desktop from Microsoft..... "Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac" .... It is free to download at Microsoft. And vice-versa can remote desktop the Mac also from a MS Windows PC. You see Macs are computers, I mean real computer not just a sexy case or box. As a Mac user we abuse the Macs for our cause or wants or needs. And Macs computer do not abuse its users or master. But though we abuse the Macs it always sturdy and strong and ready and waiting to be abuse again and again. Of course not the abusing of opening the case and dissecting the parts. Just abusing its usage as a real computer functions and to done its job right. | | | |

| | I do not want the USB I want to put it inside, I want to have an external one. Do tyou really think I would ask that question If I knew you can buy an external Blue ray I want an Internal one. I do not want some extra box laying around my room. So you are using mac because you use it for making money. Maybe it's the best for you. It does not mean that MAC makes supreme computers(that means not just performance). You are just saying that because you love your MAC. If you were a complete nerd you would put pros and cons with PC and mac against each other so you can really prove us which one is better in what. She actually just bought macbook just because of nice design and light weight but she always keep it in her home. And the best part, her boyfriend have paid for that laptop. So why would she ever complain? I would want to see her own 1.7k into that thing. Good to know I'll take it for granted. You are saying this like PC's are just a second quality computer. Give me a brake. A lot of PC users know our stuff too. I do not know how Windows XP pro Performance edition abuses my grandma's laptop with 256mb of ram which makes it run smoothly. I seriously do not know what do you mean by word "abuse". i kind of think that Mac abuse people financially if you do not use your mac at it's best. Oh yeah by the way, I know that Apple is a good company I just never liked their products but tat the same time I'm investing money into their stocks. I hope they are going to reach $200 again soon. | | | |

| | oh Hello over here. For me I don't mind if there's additional box as long as I can use it importantly. It is not a maybe or that. It is my best decision to having an Apple Mac. A real nerd can live up any cons as long he likes the things he likes to use, like me always on my satisfactions and comfortableness. Because there are unlimited solutions for cons and killing myself is the last options I think. OF course not, lol... just kidding about that last option. I just switch to another and more options. Life is simple and great. About your friend. She's is so very lucky she has boyfriend that's so very nice and sweet. Because her boyfriend thinks, she is more valuable than the Macbook he gave to her. Well, just like me I bought my fiancee a 21" Alu iMac (late 2009 model) last Christmas. She gonna use it for her Event Organizer company. About your grandma, well it depends the applications the users that's using or running. I mean over use or abuse to any kind of using applications. Example can open 50 or more video files at a time for choosing some clips for a projects. Or 100 more websites open at a time for scouting or researching some products. Other than that you can still listen to your music while working. Developing and debugging applications from C++ to java, html, php and so on, on different kind of OS like MS Windows and Linux at the same time running Mac OS. Besides downloading and uploading videos or large files. Can your grandma's computer can do that? smoothly? Wants some more?.... How about at the same time chatting or video chats with 20 colleagues on different parts of the globe either on skype, yahoo messenger, msn messenger, aol at so on. Wait I forgot something oh scandisk and defragging or virusscan and other maintenance stuffs. Oooops I don't do that well I have a Norton installed just for monitoring or disinfecting MS Windows Virus so with will not spread to other PC Windows users. I do maintenance like file optimizing and cleaning some cache just for less than a minute a week. After that lifestyle outside with my pets and love ones. So, simple. | | | |

| | Well for me another box is the problem and it might be for some other people as well? How many boxes are you going to need? extra hard drive, extra optical drive? can you hook up ram the same way ha-ha? She is not lucky, she is just stupid. If you buy a Porsche to drive around the corner to get some milk every day there is nothing smart about that. You might say hey she has money, if she does what's the problem. Well another thing. If you are rich you do not buy Porsche coupe to go around with your 4 kids do you? that's not smart. You buy some SUV or what I have seen the most even rich people go with Honda Odyssey. Well, I do not know too many 75 year olds running video and audio software. That's what I said before. PC users have an option. Look it up online. I have seen a video of a guy hooking up numerous number of SSD to his computer. I think he opened around 60 pages in 10 sec or so. Benchmark tests were up the roof also. So we can out perform Mac. I do not run any kind of firewall all I have is Malwarebytes. I'm a careful user I do not get viruses too often, last time was some spyware. Again Mac's are just safe because noone really uses them if mac would be as common as PC's now days you would have to run anti viruses. | | | |

| | I have used both. I personally think the mac is a better machine. I think it doesn't break down as much because it is not a popular as the pc and therefore, not as many viruses are written to attack the Mac. I would never buy a Mac because whenever there is new software or PC adaptable appliance, it is always written for the PC first. Later a work around or version will be written for the Mac, but it is just a hassle setting it up. Bill Gates won the software war and the PC reigns supreme, so live with it. Until someone figures out a way to make every single device use the same software, like the USB port, we are still at the mercy of the PC. | | | | | | |

Well that's why lots of great software developer closed down. Well maybe soon Bill Gates Microsoft. I hope so will not. So don't use pirated software and stop spreading virus. | | | |
