hi everyone, I have a 3 month old mini pinscher puppy and i just got him 2 weeks ago. He got a nice shiny black and tan color so anyone could notice if he's losing some of his hair/coat. Recently, after taking him to the vet to have him dewormed, i noticed a slight bald area in his back, i'm so worried about it coz it happened to one of my dogs in the past and it got worst and my dog died. I don't want that to happen to him. His vet is currently out of town so I couldnt have him check yet until she gets back. I'm so worried coz i noticed another slight bald area on his left rib area.

Any information is appreciated, i'm so worried. Thank you.

Could be a multitude of things. Have you recently changed his food? Has he been around any other dogs? Have you checked him for fleas? Are the spots where he is losing the hair red and warm?

He may be having an alergic reaction that is causing him to lose his hair. This would be my first guess. Try putting him on a bland diet (usually lamb and rice is best) puppy food of course. If he is chewing or scratching real bad and you see any evidence of fleas, give him a bath to treat them. He may be alergic to the flea dander. And get him to the vet as soon as possible. Your vet should have someone that fills in for them when they are away or there should be some kind of emergency vet you can take him to.

Also if you had another dog die from similar causes please make sure that the vet knows this. Your puppy may have a sarasoptic mange mite that is attacking it. The mites can live in the carpet or on old bedding from your previous dog. There is medication that can be given to treat this but should be handled immediately so that the puppy does not get any worse.

i've been really observing him since it happened and from all I can remember, it happened after I got him dewormed 2 weeks ago, his food is actually not the same all the time, like i feed him with dry dog food then some nights i feed him with dog food in can. So i can't tell if its his dog food or not, tomorrow i'm taking him to the vet so hopefully nothing serious got him. And he doesnt have fleas, ticks or any parasites, his bald areas isnt red or warm, tho he itches sometimes but not all the time, he sleeps with me in bed and i threw everything that my late puppy died so there's no way he have gotten any parasites from him.
