| I'm not sure if many of you are aware (as I wasn't untill recently) but the japanese Studio Ghibli do some fantastic animated films. Their most recent being Ponyo which I loved. Are any of you here Studio Ghibli fans? If so, which is your favourite film? | | | | | |

| | Hi Ford666UK! I'm a fan of Hayao Miyazaki's animated films ever since I was a kid. My favorite films are Hauru no Ugoku Shiro or Howl's Moving Castle and Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi which has a different english title, Spirited Away. I also liked Lupin III which is very funny. Gake no ue no Ponyo is a very nice film too. I had a collection of Studio Ghibli films but it's all Japanese dubbed since I can't understand english that well. I recommend you to watch all of his films, you'll love it. I hope many westerners too will love Mr. Miyazaki's work. Happy mylotting! | | | | | | |

| | I love Studio Ghibli! It seems like every movie they make is amazing. I'd pick up any title by them any day. I remember watching Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky when I was younger but I didn't realize that they were Ghibli works at the time. It wasn't until I saw Princess Mononoke years ago that I fell in love. That movie is the whole reason why I'm such an anime fan today. I was amazed by the storyline (different from any American cartoon I've ever seen before it) as well as the beautiful animation. Since then I've been a fan of anything Ghibli. And I'm really looking forward to the new movie that will be coming out in December of this year. It's called "Karigurashi no Arriety (Arriety the Borrower)" and is based on the novel 'The Borrowers' by Mary Norton. Even though Miyazaki Hayao isn't directing this one I'm still looking forward to it. | | | | | | |

| | This is where the true master doing his works, if you have seen Avatar you know where that film's inspirations coming from. The Crimson Pig is one of my favourite, that's where romance, action and comedy all coming in together into a memorable world. Castle in the Sky is another masterpiece, an epic advanture and a warning bell to our technology-dependent society. Valley of the Wind tells us the powerful force of the nature, and also its great kindness towards its foolish human children. If we destory the very nature we are depending on, is like commiting suicide. Grave of the Fireflies is a very sad film to reflect the trauma that war can have on our lives. Despite been the greater evil in the war, Japan has suffered greatly upon its defeat, and the innocent civilians were the ones that have to pay the price. Is meant to tell us war can never be justified, and is always the innocents that have to suffer. So much great works, and much to think about after watching them. They are truly inspirational. | | | | | | |
