Recently, a good friend of mine want to sell me this car, Chrysler, PT Cruiser, 2001, with 80,000 mileage. Everything else is in good condition, and I let drove it myself around, and it seems pretty good.
The asking price is $4,000, and on my first thought, I might want to take it as my backup, in case the one I am driving now is in problem. From Kelly Blue book, it only cost around $3,700 for private party dealing. Some of my friend suggested me that is not a good car, since it is American car, and as you run it more mileage, or exceeding 100,000 miles, it will getting worse, and you have to spend lots of money to get it fixed again. So, what is your opinion on Chrysler, is it that bad?

If you like the car based on ride and looks, then buy it. Talk them down though, paying over KBB is kinda' a bad idea imo. I don't think it really matters on the mileage if the car is maintained well. Obviously, the more miles, the more maintenance that can be expected to come your way. I can tell you that I am 100% sure you have a better chance at it running longer than some other cars produced by Chrysler that year due to tighter tolerances on the Cruiser that year than similar priced cars ( Neon for example). As always with anything used, just be as knowledgable as you can before the purchase.

I heard so many bad comments from my friends, that is why I hesitate to buy this car. Oh well, I might as well advise my father to get a new vehicle better than an old junk.
