You problably already figured out you can't really take control of the power option. I found a free download to keep your power on. It is called stim http://download.cnet.com/Stims/3000-2072_4-10718993.html?part=dl-Stims&subj=uo&tag=button. I tried hacking the registry and couldn't find a way to do it there. I tried the power options and they didn't work. I tried cmd and it didn't work. But this one really works. So if your having a problem keeping vistas power on then try this download. It will keep it on for up to 48 hours. You can go to it daily and set it back to 48 hours. It sits in your taskbar and stays on till you turn it off. Do you have a registry hack for keeping the power on in vista? Do you have problems keeping your power on?

Hi Azamoz. The new tool I found is called stem it keeps the power on in my new machine. http://download.cnet.com/Stims/3000-2072_4-10718993.html?part=dl-Stims&subj=uo&tag=button this is the link for the new tool. I couldn't get vista to stay on it would go into the sleep mode everytime I would leave the computer for a few minutes. Thank God I found it cause I don't have to worry about vista going to sleep if I get up and leave the computer for any length of time.

I have had no problem keeping the power on with my laptop. I have it set to never sleep or turn off the minitor when I do the fallowing Close the lid, plug in the device, or run the device off the battery. If I want the laptop to sleep, I'll use the "sleep" button or the power option to "slee'p. Or I'll manually shut down the unit.
Perhaps you weren't looking in the right place when setting your power options, or you weren't telling the computer the right thing. Despite this you shouldn't have any problems with power.
I don't and I never have, and this is my second vista machine.

Hi Kay. I don't know what the problem is but I did it just like it says to do for the power. But no matter what I did it just wouldn't stay on. I have been using a computer for some years with XP and it did what I told it to do. I don't shut my machines down the reason for this is one or both of us gets on the computer several times a day. I just can't get it to sleep. I went to control panel where the power option is and set it to never sleep. And would get up and as soon as I came back it would be asleep.
