|  I need help here guys. I was really thinking about formulating a prayer that can be applicable to all religions. Say all kinds off people from different religions were gathered, and you were asked to say the opening prayer, how would you do that in such a way that your prayer would not be one sided, something that can speak to everyone that's present in the gathering....

| |  Almost everybody, except the athiests believe in god so you can mention God in your prayer. The muslims don't believe in Jesus as their god so it's worthy not the mention his name. There are christians that don't believe in Mary and the holy trinity so you can try to avoid mentioning those as well.

| |  Can we not use the word Creator instead of Father etc? Creator is formless, timeless and genderless.. So it should not offend anyone.

To try to do this you would have to start from the position that all faiths are true, which is not the case. Since Christianity is the only one that holds Jesus Christ as the incarnate God, and as the only way to be reconciled with God, the Father, you can not add in Molech, Baal, Mary, Shiva or anyone but the one true God and still have an acceptable prayer.

| |  I have to agree here. I can't imagine a universal prayer that would work since not everyone is praying to the same God as I know Him to be.

That sounds wonderfull in principle but I can't see how it would work. Even if I were to say as someone mentioned here (with all good and honest intentions I'm sure so I'm not saying your thinking is wrong), to simply say "May your god go with you" it would still be wrong in my view.
The Bible says that our God is a jelous God and so to wish another god well might anger Him . I myself wouldn't want to risk it. The ten commandment are plain in saying, Put no other god before me.
That's just my view,

Perhaps a poem of some sort that would be directed to humanity in general that might include things like Hope, Giving, and Love.hmmm
