What an unwanted experience I had early this morning!

I had a bad day today--February 28th, 2010, though it is our traditional Lantern Festival by the lunar calendar. Early this morning between 5:05 to 5:30 when I was standing still outside Hangzhou North Bus Station with one of my heavy backbacks on my back, I was encountered with a lady pickpocket, who stole all my money in my back pocket of my trousers. What was more strange was the button of my back pocket got unlocked without my knowing about it. I did not discover this until when it was time I had to pay for my bus ticket next to the ready-moving bus. I felt so bad with no money to pay for a bus ticket, but the driver was so nice and kind and let me pay him after I reached our school gate where I borrowed some money from our gate-keeper, who lent it to me at once after my telling him about my bad luck and experience.
Getting the money, I ran all the way to the bus and gave the ticket money to the driver with great thanks to him.
It is the third time that I have ever had my money stolen. I have learned a lot from this case and will try to be always careful not to have this happen again.
Have you had a similar experience, please?

Hello bunnybon. Now I know much better after this case of my money pickpocketed. I think that your mother is doing great to sew a pocket inside her shirt near the top. It is always better to keep safe than to feel sorry. Thank you, friend, for the response. Have a great day.

any way I am very careful with my money and while travelling I always split my money and keep it in 2 or 3 different places so that I will not be stranded with no money at all, come what may....And WJS....
...Please do not be such a perfect gentleman as to call the woman who picked your pocket a LADY......

Hello Rose. I was still lucky not to have my ID stolen, but some money I brought with me for the travel. I would be more careful anytime when traveling somewhere. Take care, Rose.

Hi jisir, it's really sad to learn that you had encountered such an undesirable experience in the early morning onoutside the bus station the last day of the spring festival. It was a shame that the pickpocket lady had turned the happy Traditional Lantern Festive day totally to an unhappy day
I believe the disgusting lady was a well trained and skillful pickpocket will lots of experience for you discovered what happened when you needed to pay for the bus ticket on the very moment.
Though, you still considered to be lucky as you met a good-hearted bus driver. Yeah, I appreciate the kind driver very much. He was very much more than willing to take the trouble and time to wait for you to borrow money and paid for the bus ticket. That's right we always learn a good lesson and will become smarter from our bad experience.
I did come across such unwanted experience once in a busy street many years ago. I was waiting the vendor to wrap the fried banana slices in front of a street booth. I held my purse tight with my both hands resting on my back waist. My husband and I chase after the picket once I shouted but was in vain as he had gone riding on the motorcycle waiting him in a near distance. I had learned a good lesson since then. I always hold my bag or valuable whatever in front of me therefore we can take good care of it all the time. And I always try not to carry a bag if possible and I prefer to place my wallet in my front jeans pocket
I wonder other than the money whether you had lost other essential item at the same time. If so you need to take some trouble as well as to consume some time to apply for those essential items for sure if they were in your lost wallet.
Happy posting and have a nice day

Hello lkbooi. I am sorry that you had the same undesirable experience as I have had. The pickpocket stole away my money only as I have not had a wallet for a few years since my only nice and new wallet was stolen while waiting for a bus in the local bus station years ago. Then I decided not to use a wallet any more. Back to then, I had my ID card, salary bank card, VIP cards for supermarkets and 1300RMB in cash in it. It happened on the day when I was traveling to another city for a summer camp together with my foreign colleague. It was so bad that I could never get it back even if I reported it to the police station that very day.
I am wondering why those pickpockets do not want to work, but steal money and things from other people for a living. If only they worked for a living!
Now I am back to school and busy with my teaching work again. I like it and I am happy to see my nice students. I wish you a healthy, happy, and prosperous year of tiger. Take care.

I am sorry to hear that. Especially it was happened in this kind of festival. It might spoil your mood. When I was a student, my wallet was stolen when I waited for the bus. It was a lot for a student at that time. I felt bad but I didn't tell my parents because I was afraid I would be blamed. Since that, I learned that I should be careful when I go out and I won't let the similar thing happen to me again. So I paid for my lesson. I keep alert when I am out.
I love China

Hello youless. I agree that it is usually after we paid for our lessons that we will learn more from them. My wife asked me to take care of my money before leaving home, but I did not think that my cash would be stolen from my back pocket, which proved that I was wrong. I will be more careful than ever. Take care, youless.

Hello my friend!
I'm so sorry to hear this situation from you my friend.
I thought your place is very safe to have a backpack
with money . It is same here in our place many pickpocketters
a lady or man that you cannot say they can. It's a professional
guys that love to stole things from other person.
It is good to safety all your money in traveling. It is very
vital so that we can drop from the vehicle.
Lucky you are that the driver understand you without thinking
something. Thanks for the Almighty that you arrived safe in your
station inspite of the fact happen.
So every time you will travel keep the money so that it cannot
easily get and seen by the thief.

Hello Mr. Williamjisir! It was a very bad experience. What surprises me are two things:
1. How can they steal things from our own body and not feel it.
I think this people are very lucky or talented because I would never take the risk of doing such thing, and yet, they are sucessful most of the time.
2. How come it wasn't the first time you've been stolen. Some people have never been stolen and some others have been several times.
I have a friend that moved to the town I am at because she used to lived in the biggest city of my country and had several bad experiences like the one you had today. A month ago someone broke into her house and stole a lot of valuable things. They were not home, but they manage to steal TV's, other electronics, gym machines and not even one neighbor heard anything or at least thats what they say!
Its very dissapointing that humans do this things to others, many say they have their reasons but its absolutely not the right thing to do.
Hope this is the last time this happens to you, Libna.
Happy mylotting!

Hello Libna. I am also wondering how come I did not feel it when the dirty hand placed into my back trouser pocket. It could be the heavy backpack that made me not feel it, I guess. I do hope that it would be the last time I would ever have such a bad experience. It is really a very bad feeling to have money and something stolen like that. I will surely try to be more careful anywhere and anytime away from home. Thank you for the response, friend. Take care.

It is horrible. If the driver had not given this convenience, I would be delayed in the city. What a nice driver and what a terrible picket pocket. Take care, my dear friend.

I am very sorry for the pick pocket williamjisir, this should not have happened to you. You are such a helping hand and good person by heart. Anyway I am happy your journey went on uninterrupted. I faced this situation once long ago. I went to a departmental store. My son was small and I was holding his hand and selecting things. Suddenly he asked me to carry him and started crying. He was afraid of the crowd. When I was concentrating on him, somebody opened my bag and took money from it. Fortunately in a hurry, they could lay their hands on a part of the money only. I learnt a lessen from that incident and now I keep my money in the inside zip of the handbag.

Hello 4mymak. I am glad that you have not encountered such a bad enperience. Before I left home for the train and bus, my wife told me to be careful with it, but I was so sure that it would not be stolen as I believed that I could feel it if someone touched my back pocket in the trousers. It proved that I am wrong. I will be more careful now. Thank you for the comment, my dear friend. Take care.

Hi, williamjisir. I am very sorry about your bad experience. I have never been robbed before. But, I have had my clothes, and my family clothes taken away from us all. It was not a very great feeling.
I lost just about all of my things. It is something how this woman stole your money out your back pocket. From now on you may have to put your wallet in your front wallet. I know that most men keep their wallets in their back pocket. And that is okay. But, it makes it a free target for a thief. You may have to put it in your front pocket from now on. I don't know why we have so may thieves in this world. They should go out and find a way to make some money instead of taking yours. How did you know that it was a lady that stole your money? Did you see any familiar faces? Or anyone that you may have recognized? I hope that you get this straightened out. Hopefully, you can make a report to the police. Maybe this bus station had cameras around where they could catch a glimpse of the thief. I am very sorry that this happened to you. It is not a nice situation to go through. I hope that you will never have to experience this again.

I know it was her because she was the only one standig next to me and another fifty-year-old man before me. What was strange was the man squatted close to my other two bags placed on the floor next to me. He did not have any luggage of his with him. His action made me stand facing him for the safety of my bags. This way I happened to leave the woman standing behind my back leaving her a chance for my money in the pocket as I was carrying another heavy bag on my back.
They both came after me. When I told this situation to the driver, he and all the other passengers agreed that it was their joint performance for it.
"Maybe this bus station had cameras around where they could catch a glimpse of the thief." In many places they have installed cameras. I would like to try to find a phone number and call the bus station for it if possible...Take care, friend.

Hey williamjisir! OMG! That is so terrible! But, you said that
this was the third time this has happened to you! Didn't you
learn from the first two times to keep your money close to you
and not in your back pocket! Obviously, wherever you live this
is an occurence that is common! I live in the USA, in NY and
we know that there are many pick pockets and know to take the
proper precautions as to where we keep our money and credit
cards! I try to be very careful when I have cash on me! And
my boyfriend never carries cash in his wallet ever! He puts
his cash in his sock! And I suggest for now on you do the
same! Take this as a safety tip! Put your cash into your sock
and your money will be safe from now on! Sometimes you have
to learn the hard way!

sorry to hear of your bad experience, dear friend. My son lost his wallet for three times, now every time he leaves, I am like a broken record reminding him to put his wallet at his front pocket or put his bag in front. I also experienced losing my wallet in my bag, a middle aged woman who's sitting besides me in a jeepney keep on smiling every time, I faces her. When I got home my other things were falling already only to realized my bag was slashed and my wallet was gone. I no longer trust Passengers who smile at me whenever i'm in a bus or jeepney. We learn from our experiences though. Take care, William.

Hi William, it's sad to hear you are in this deep trouble, early in the morning. Well, my parents always advice me not to put my purse or even my cell phone at the back pocket of my pants or trousers. It's not a save area, since we are hard to turn around to our back and see what's happening. My uncle ever got pickpocket twice, when he was standing in the bus. There are full of passengers, so it's hard to know which passenger had pickpocket and stolen his wallet and cell phone. It's more save to put your wallet in the front pocket of your trousers. Happy Lantern Festival....

Hello myfb. You are right to say that it is safer to put the wallet in the front pocket of the trousers. From this case, I have learned to be more careful with my money while traveling and having to stay somewhere that is crowded. Thank you for the comment, my dear friend. Take care.
