if your house is on fire, what's the first thing you'll save?  

my children beyond anything else.. the rest can burn

hi! i hope it will never happen, but if there is a case like that, and I have to take only one thing, and I also think that I will not able to take more, the first thing that i am going to take are my photo albums and the CD's and DVD's with my digital photos and movies, because these are my memories and for me, there is nothing more important than it, except the family and the friends of course :)

Assuming I was home alone I would get my pets out then grab my purse, documents out of the safe and as much out of two cabniets that have our deceased families items that I could..

If your asking what thing then first thing to save is the money and bank documents of course. With your money, you could survive for a while and start a new life with the savings in the bank.

If I am the one left alone in the house & the situation is not that worst then I will save my important documents like passports, original documents, etc., which I stored together in one bag. If my son is around then I will save him first & do everything to save him no matter what it takes for life is irreplaceable when its lost it means forever & there's nothing we can do to bring it back.

Well, I know that my husband has all important documents at one place so he can grab them. Honestly, I would take my PC. I can't imagine living without it and buying a new one is quite pricy.
We don't have any kids or pets, so my PC would be my first choice for a thing.

Apart from the obvious, my children, I would grab all of the families documents like passports and residents papers etc, then my laptop would have to come with me too. Everything else can go with the fire, so long as the insurance will cover it.

I would save my family first. My brothers and parents. Then I will pick up my briefcase which contains all the important documents then run outside the house.

You have made me think of a friend of mine that during earthquake went out of the dormitory only grabbing the fishtank, and even forgetting about her wallet.
As for me, I should remind myself to take shoes, cause I always wear slippers at home. I'm afraid my mind would just go blank, I would take my bag and go out since we don't have pets nor children. I hope I would be calm enough to take documents and bank accounts, but I doubt I would be.

Other than making sure that my family (including my pets) is out safe, I would not worry about much. All important documents are in a fire proof safe, which I recommend everyone invest in one. You can get the smallest of them for less than $50.00 and even if your entire house was to burn down this box would withstand the heat. The fire department would find the box and return all of your important documents safely. Or if you have a chance you can easily grab it on your way out and have it with you.

Material items can be replaced and as much as I would miss some of my memoriblia, it is not worth risking my life or anyone elses to save it.
