Has anyone used an electronic picture frame?  email this discussion to a friend?

wmciver6 (1) 2 years ago

I was thinking about getting my mom one for her birthday and preloading it with pictures of us kids, but I've never actually seen one in real life other than in the stores. Do they look good when they're actually sitting in your living room? Can you adjust the brightness? Do you have to turn them off at night?

I've been trying to learn more about them ( http://www.redpnt.com/electronic-picture-frame/ ) but it's kind of hard to find good information about them. Do they use a lot of electricity? I don't want to increase my mom's electricity bill.

Oh, and does anyone know if any of them will display animated gifs? That would be funny.

Thanks!

you don't have to worry about my friend.let me explain why.some frames run in a.c. and some are by rechargeable batteries.they look very good like a live photo.you can also adjust their brightness, colors and contrast.some of them come with good features like- auto change of photos, frames etc.so don't worry, and choose a good one to gift.take my words, you will not be disappointed.and after all its always better to gift or try something digital in this digital era.

After our Mom died, my brother & I gave our Dad a digital frame & put pictures of him & her throughout their life. It was a 5 x 7 digital frame & he fell in love with it. He set it up with a long extension cord so he could drag it all over the house & have it in every room he went into. As a matter of fact, he liked it so much that a year later we bought him a 15 inch digital frame just for the den. It's large enough he can see it from across the room. Yes, you can set the brightness, contrast, etc. Personally, I prefer the 15 inch frame to the smaller one. The pictures are much clearer & the details are unbelievable. Now he doesn't have to drag the smaller one around with him as he spends most of his time sitting in the den with the larger one. He turned the smaller one off every night just because he thought he was supposed to. He leaves the larger one on 24/7/365 & he hasn't noticed any difference in his electric bill. Believe me, if had gone up even one cent we would have heard about it!!! Pay particular attention to how you add the pictures to the digital frame. My brother took it upon himself to add the pictures & he just about pulled his hair out (he's bald) rofl The larger frame also plays music, but my brother wasn't patient enough to learn how to add the music to the frame. It also has a remote control so he can sit on the sofa & control the frame. Both frames store the pictures on 2Gb SD cards. It seems that every frame is different. I remember that the smaller frame is Giminii, but I'm not sure what the larger one is. Here is the link he sent me to look at it...

Hope this link helps you learn some more & gives you more ideas on what's available!!! I feel like your Mom will enjoy her digital frame especially with all her memories of her family on it. My Dad stays glued to it watching it all the time. There is a big difference between features between different brands. The main thing I'd suggest is do NOT skimp on price. The cheap ones are cheap for a reason!!!.

I think that picture frames are a really good idea they have very good picture quality...I don't believe that they raise the electric bill any i could be wrong though.

My sister got my mom a picture frame for Christmas and I loaded it with pictures. My mom put it in the back bedroom where she has her computer. I noted the other day, it's never turned on. My mom prefers to watch the pictures we've loaded on her computer (screensaver set at 1 minute) more than she watches the digital picture frame. It turned out not to be a very good gift for mom. This is the only gift given her, she hasn't used.
