!!FINALLY...A Happy Ending!!! | | | | http://www.wyff4.com/news/22776340/detail.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiCnUu8qhcY The shelter in Greenville SC that took in the 22 dogs last week FINALLY has a story with a happy ending!!! Maybe you will be able to see why I said they are a good & responsible shelter!!! I cried & cried as I read about Bambi. For a change, these were tears of HAPPINESS!!! A Labrador/Retriever mix was turned in for adoption as a puppy. That puppy was immediately adopted out to a kind & loving family. Unfortunately, the puppy took a sudden growth spurt where the bones in its front legs grew too fast & the muscles just couldn't keep up causing the little puppy's legs to bow in & forcing her to walk on the outside of her feet. She couldn't stand for long before collapsing. So the vet called the shelter & told them they needed to take the puppy back as it would be quite expensive to correct the problem. The family returned the puppy & the head of the foster care program took the puppy home with her & began looking for help for the poor baby.A local vet offered to volunteer her services & to try a new procedure on the puppy. During all this, the staff affectionately named the puppy Bambi after the Disney character because the puppy looked somewhat like Bambi when he first tried to walk. The vet put Bambi in casts on both front legs in hopes of straightening her legs. She was also put on a special diet to attempt to control her growth. As luck luck would have it, Bambi's legs corrected to the way they should have grown & she is now a thriving, running like crazy puppy. Only one problem, by the time all this happened she was old enough to be in the unadoptable range. Fortunately fate stepped in & a young lady was looking for her a puppy. The staff showed her Bambi first & she then looked at all the other puppies available. This young lady had lost a leg in a motorcycle accident 10 years before. Bambi was being given a bath when this young lady first saw her. By the time she had looked at all the other puppies, Bambi was back in her kennel surrounded by pictures of her when she was first returned to the shelter & her progress up to that day. The young lady felt a bond with Bambi as she remembered the rehabilitation she had been through when she first lost her leg. She remembered how hard it was to learn to walk again after she received her prosthetic leg. She just could NOT leave Bambi behind to wait on another family & adopted her that day. Even more amazing...while filling out the adoption papers, the young lady noticed that Bambi had been born on HER birthday (August 28). It was clear they were meant for each other!!! Bambi's new owner works for a local hospice house & is now training Bambi to be a therapy dog where she works. So now, Bambi can walk; &, if you watched the video, she runs like the wind!!! She is receiving a lot of love from her new owner, she's receiving a lot of love from the patients & families at the hospice house. So, I've FINALLY found a dog story with a happy ending!!! Now, in order to make this a discussion, have you ever heard such a wonderful story??? If so, please share!!! Did you help me cry??? I just LOVE stories with happy endings!!! Do you??? | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | There are a few of these types stories if you really look for them. If you need a weekly feel good adoption story check out Animal Planet on Friday nights (I think). There is a show on called Underdog to Wonderdog. The team goes in and picks up a pet from a local shelter that would not otherwise be adopted out and helps to reform the dog into a great pet. And yes, I did get a little misty eyed from your story but I do every week when I watch this show too. I think it is great when pets find their forever homes. As for personal connection the closest thing I have is about 10 years ago, shortly after Christmas we had recieved one of the biggest snow storms that we had ever had. I went down to check the mail and there in the road was this little puppy. She was all wet, cold and scared. I took her to the house, warmed her up, fed her and started calling the shelters. I posted notices on the street corners and put an ad in the paper. My mom and dad were not happy with me becuase I had had the puppy for 3 weeks and still had not found its owners. But I told them that I could not turn it over to the shelter becuase I was afraid that it was going to be euthanized. So they agreed that I could keep her for another couple of weeks while I worked with the humane shelter to find her a home. The first weekend I took her to the adoption stand, she didn't get the first look from anyone. So I took her home, upset of course becuase I knew they were not going to allow me to keep her much longer. The next weekend, I took her back to the stand for a two day setup. The last people to walk by her on Saturday fell in love with her and wanted to take her home immediately. But of course becuase of shelter rules, they had to go through the adoption interviews. Luckily for this little girl the shelter hurried her interview though and they were able to pick her up the following day. | | | | | | | | | | | | Ask a Dog Vet Online Now 8 Veterinarians Are Online! | | Hi LadyMarissa I am so happy to read this positive story. The news are flooded with negative stories with wars, hate, crimes, rapes, child abuse, adultery. Anything that shock its readers or televiewers, anything that increase their audience so that they can sell more. This is certainly a positive story that makes you belief that there are still kind hearted people who really care about our four legged friends. | | | | | | | | | | | | Depression Information Are You Depressed? | | Hi LadyM, That story had me in tears..so many dogs would of either been put down or never adopted, it is just amazing how Bambi made such a brilliant recovery and is now able to run around and do the things that other dogs do-also amazing that her now owner came back for her not many would do that...no coincidence about their birthdays as you say 'they were meant for each other'. I don't know if my story really is a happy ending, but I have two dogs of my own, as they were an 'accident' and the owner didn't know it had happened she was selling the puppies really cheaply. When my ex and mself went to see the pups there were only two left, one the runt of the litter and two the biggest of the litter, brother and sister, no-one wanted them so I said 'yes' to both, they are the most loving loyal friendly dogs anyone could want, and even though my house isn't big it is average and the dogs are healthy and happy..so in the end they have had a 'happy' ending...LoLo | | | | | | | | | | | | 1 Tip to Lose Stomach Fat This unusual article shows 3 veggies that fight stomach fat. | | Wow!! Thanks for sharing this one my friend. I had not heard this one yet, and it does bring tears to ones eyes. We have actually considered adopting a dog from somewhere and are not going to be too picky either. But a story like this is definately awesome, and sounds like this was meant to be for sure. | | | | | | | LadyMarissa (4301)

| | Yes, those 2 belonged together & Bambi is now helping a LOT of people during their final days on earth. In my younger days, I thought I could only have a pedigree pet & paid dearly for the little brats. As I got older & wiser, I realized that mutts can make the BEST pets!!! I have 4 furbabies now & 3 came from a shelter. The fourth came from a friend whose dog got out & got preggers. I swear shelter pets know in their heart that you saved them from destruction & they feel grateful & they set out to show you how thankful they are. With today's economic climate, you can sometimes find a pedigree waiting at the shelter. I have a friend who adopted a Great Dane complete with papers. He's contributing to her income via stud services now!!! So, when you decide you're ready to adopt, I strongly suggest a shelter pet!!! Instead of walking in with a specific pet in mind...other than dog or cat...I let the pet pick me. When I got my 2 cats, I walked in with the intentions of adopting one kitten. I told the caretaker that I was looking to adopt a kitten, but I wanted to hold EVERY kitten they had BEFORE making up my mind. The first couple were very standoffish so I knew it wouldn't be one of them. Then I saw a beautiful baby with the prettiest eyes & as I picked him up, he tried to jump away. So, that one was out. I had already decided that I wanted a short haired baby because of the shedding problem. Guess what??? I look at one cage & see a long haired black baby. Well, I didn't want a long haired kitten & I sure didn't want a jinx so I walked past him to get to the next cage. He stuck his little foot out through the bars & grabbed my shirt & meowed. I stopped & asked to hold him. Just as soon as I picked him up, he snuggled into my neck & started purring. I felt an instant connection, BUT...I didn't want a long haired kitten & I sure didn't want a jinx, black cat. I went through the rest of the kittens & didn't find one I was drawn to. So, I go back to the friendly baby & he was all excited as I neared his cage. This time, BOTH his feet extended through the cage & his meow was almost like he was begging. I picked him up again & he dove into my neck & started giving me kisses. I thought...what the hell & I heard myself telling the attendant {i]I'll take this one!!! As I turned to hand him to her so she could get him ready to go, he reached for a little short haired black kitten that was in the cage under his. I had missed that little guy. The were reaching for each other & crying. The attendant said they had become friends & played through their cages a lot. I made it clear that I could afford the fee for 2 kittens. She responded "You can have both for only $10 more. My little guy got all excited when I took his friend from his cage. Needless to say, I couldn't break up the friendship & I took 2 black kittens home with me. They were both the last of their respective litters, but they were brothers at heart!!!! I was just thinking, it will be 2 years this July since I brought them home & they bring soooo much JOY to my life. They fight like brothers & play like friends. They were born within one week of each other & have been together since they were 6 weeks old. The long haired one is still my loving baby. The short haired one is very independent.& requires very little attention. I really enjoy watching them sort out which will be the Alpha Male every day!!! I said all that just to suggest that once you go to the shelter that you let the pet choose you!!! You will know when you meet YOUR new baby!!! | | | | | | | Pharmacy Discounts Save up to 75% at the pharmacy. Printable prescription discounts. www.yourrxdiscounts.com | add comment | | | |

| | I am glad that Bambi got a loving home in the end, as I think it is disgusting that the Family took her back instead of loving her for who she was and try to help her Those People should not be allowed to have any more Dogs It is like giving a Baby away because it was born with something wrong Sorry Marissa that sort of thing always makes me angry when People get rid of Pets just because something is up with them | | | | | | | | | | 5 Foods to never eat Cut down a bit of your belly every day by not eating these 5 foods.
