Do you think Kobe Bryant should leave LA Lakers?  email this discussion to a friend?

Parker008 (18) 2 years ago

Recently Lakers performed not very well. Kobe could get high score every night, but his team was still losing the games. somebody said Kobe limited the opportunities of other guys, such as Gasol and Artest, they complained for many times. For some youngs, it limited their growth. once Kobe retired I think, Lakers will go weak quickly. it seems that maybe it's better for Lakers if Kobe leave LA. what do you think?

I think La Should Keep Kobe he is the number one guy for them, sometimes when a guy gave you so much for many years you will love him and not let go even if he is not anymore at the top of his game. Kobe is now the number 1 player in NBA arguably, and when the time comes we would not be as quick or as sharp as he is now still as a Lakers owner i will keep him for the years he has spent with the team.

I don't think that Kobe is limiting the growth of his teammates, in fact, they are learning first hand experience from him. Kobe is playing very good not only in scoring but as well as making plays for his team. I think that his team mates should step up to his level and make plays and points as well. If they really had it in them Kobe would undoubtedly recognize everyone's potential and therefore use it for their benefit, as he usually does in games. Notice how he lures many to guard him and assists to open players to make points. It would be a very big mistake to let Kobe off Lakers, and a total disrespect, considering the name and championships he had helped in and build with the team.

I strongly feel Kobe will retire a Los Angeles Laker. He is one of the top two players in the NBA right now and is coming off a NBA Championship season. In addition, I do not think Kobe is hurting the development of the younger players, if anything he's helping it. Kobe demands double teams and that allows other guys to get open. In my opinion, he's the bbest t play in the NBA since Michael Jordan.

Kobe Bryant has been with the Lakers since he was a rookie and he's gone through a lot of hard times in his career both individually and with the team. Just because the Lakers have lost 3 straight games and his statistics have gone down a bit doesn't mean that Bryant should leave the team.

Bryant have become a much matured person than he used to be and all he cares about now is winning championships, not just some personal accolades. The Lakers is a very formidable team with Bryant, Pau Gasol, Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom and a good supporting cast of Derek Fisher, Shannon Brown, and Jordan Farmar which is strong enough to contend for another title. The Lakers is the leading team in the West and the second best team in the NBA for this season (as of this writing) and I can't find any reason why Bryant should leave such team. Maybe for another championship? Or to play for a stronger team? He no longer have to, the Lakers is a championship caliber team and is one of the strongest there is.

Bryant is still good for about 3 or 4 seasons more and I think I've got to agree, once that time comes when Bryant's game starts to decline, the Lakers will be too. Gasol, Artest, and Odom will also be beyond their primes during that time and the lone bright spot that the Lakers have is Bynum (not unless they initiate some trades again to bring in new faces and talents). But no matter how bad Bryant would be in the future when his career declines, I don't think he should leave the Lakers or the Lakers should trade him. Bryant have done a lot for the Lakers and have gone down as one of the best players to ever play the game. The Lakers should keep him until he retires and retire his number 8/24 jersey.

Kobe is a talented athlete, probably the best basketball player at this moment and time. I don't think LA would ever, in the slightest possibility, want to move Kobe from their roster for one simple reason, he gets the job done. While these claims about him limiting the opportunities may be true, we must understand the fact that he is the main man in LA, and LA runs plays off of him, and "the triangle offense is all about Kobe shooting the ball whenever and wherever he wants" (as Bill Walton states it). Kobe is the face of LA and he is still on his prime. As far as I'm concerned, he stays in LA.

Kobe is Kobe. There is no trading him or letting him go. Thats like saying the Bulls should have traded Jordan. Lately Gasol has been struggling and Artest is a streak player. Now the development of younger guys? Ever heard of a guy named Bynum? He is a great player. Some nights Kobe has to shoot, shoot and shoot again because the team is struggling and some nights Kobe dishes alot. When you think of game winners and his ability to score you just can't let him go. He will go down as a Laker from start to finish. If they let him go in order for the fans to respect the organization again they would have to bring in someone as big as him. Like King James and thats not going to happen. So I say he stays a Laker!

I don't think it's possible for LA to part ways with Kobe Bryant. When Kobe can to the NBA, he said he wanted to go to LA, he's the kind of guy who needs quite a lot of attention. Now here he is, in the Lakers for around 14/15 years, a very established player, one of the greatest players ever. And he's only been in one team, I don't think that Kobe himself wants to leave. Also, the team will keep him, because of 2 reasons, he's great, and he's like a catalyst for money making. Just this season, he's got so many gamewinners, including the fluke shot vs Miami (my favourite team) and I respect that he's a great player, but that was definitely fluke. Those shots has helped the Lakers win difficult and close games. And how often do you see the Lakers in a scoring slump or losing streak, turn to Kobe to carry their offence and win a few games in a row? Many times. So I think that come playoffs, Kobe is one of the most deadliest players ever, so why would the Lakers trade or waive him? As mentioned before, the other factor - money. Yes, the Lakers pay Kobe a lot of money to keep him, but the jerseys he sell, posters, copyright, merchandise, and most importantly tickets to the stadium. He is one of the biggest reason why Lakers is better and earning more money that the Clippes, same stadium, different fate. So you ask, would Kobe leave LA? No.
