my wee lil girl.. turns 10 in a couple weeks. not so much a baby anymore.. which has been made so abundantly clear when the announcement of "mommy!! im gettin BOOBIES!!" was made "and theyre THIS big!!" while squishing her fingers together a whole quarter of an inch at best, a week or so ago .

Oh too funny and just goes to show how far WOMEN have come in the last decade eh? LOL I was a late bloomer. Never needed a bra, still never wear one though, yes I DO have those boobies now! LOL My mother surprised me with my first bra the weekend I graduated from high school. Up until then I wore the regulation navy serge uniform of the nuns, which was so ugly, bras were our last thought. lol But graduation weekend was a big 3 day deal with the grad dance held Friday night after the grad Benediction/Ceremony held in the Cathedral. (Yes, an all girls Catholic school). Anyway, my mother had made my dress. A form fitting, full length shimmery affair with a sweetheart neckline and sleeveless. I loved it and under the disco ball I looked like a dancing rainbow. Problem was the french darts in the front required a proper bust to make the top of the dress look right, and well I just didn't have much of a bust. So mother bought me a padded bra to wear under it. I felt so glamerous and womanly until the cats in my class started making comments about my 'sudden' bustline. After that weekend I took off the bra, burned in the backyard and didn't wear one again until just a few years ago when middle aged droop made it a necessity, and even then I only wear one when I will be in the company of strangers..........

I have a large ribcage for a small person.......having small boobs just makes it worse. All bras look like crap and fit like crap on my anyway, so it's no great loss to me not wear one. I don't have the kind of problems you do, but man oh man wearing one is sooooo uncomfortable and I hate it. As for the cats....yeah women en masse suck big time. lol These days I take them one on one and we pretty much get along fine.

meh.. even one on one.. the typical female will sell her own mother to the ferryman to get at something she wants.

same as you i rarely wear one.. nerve damage along my ribs from pregnancy and broken ones on the other side.. its very very hard to find ones that dont aggrivate the problem and cause me excruiating pain. which suxXxors really cause i miss the power of the boobies.. and after losing 60 pounds, i need alla the power to em i can get LOL saddens me that those "cats" as you call them had to put a damper on such a magical evening for you. and such a nice memory of yer mom too. i hate females so much some times.. ok.. most of the time

AWWWWWWWW. That is so cute. She is not shy about it then, but so proud. That is just spectacular. "My b00bie-thingy". Let's see if I can remember that far back, eh? I think I went to the store on my own, with my own money and bought my own first 'booby-thingy' all on my own. I was quite confused with all the selection, but was able to pick out the smallest ones possible. I think I was 12 yrs old, and I was feircly independant.

mine were simply left on my bed without any of my own input as to what they were or anything.. and i was just told "wear these" without any instructions or any "coming of age" nostalgia. one of those times in my childhood i really missed my mom.. and wanted to do things differrently with my own girls.. and have succeeded immensely

I don't even remember when I went. But I took my older daughter last year, it was hilarious. After we determined what fit her, I asked her to pick out colors. She averted her eyes, and with this disgusted look on her face, pointed toward three of them. She made me carry them to the register. :-)

First time I went was 12 years old. I wasn't even that developed. In fact I could have gone a couple more years without any bra but my step mom was just happened to look at me one day, see my nips poking through my shirt and well nips poking through a shirt? Thats just not right so off to the store I went. I can't say the whole business was very thrilling. My girls have hit other areas of puberty but they haven't yet gotten to where they need boobie thingies.

My daughter is extremely tall and developed for her age. Her first bra-venture came just after she turned 8. She's JUST under 5 feet tall, and already has woman like features in so many ways, and it's obvious that she will be tall with an athletic build. She was getting embarassed about her kiwis, so I took her out. It was REALLY hard to find them her size.. Small was too small, they never have mediums in stock and large is too much. I managed to find her a tainer set with Hannah Montana and some rock and roll type designs. She too was initially proud, but is still modest about it.

modesty isnt really one of the words id use as a description of my little girl. lol ive never been one to dictate the typical "hide yerself" mentality.. and she really hasnt ever had a difficulty with herself. for that im quite glad of =o) 8 huh? guess ive got it lucky with her being 10 and my eldest at the time.. being 11. lol
