St Patrick's day is all about loving being Irish and I am. For many, it's a day to go out and get as drunk as possible yet still be able to make it to work the next day! An Irishmen is never really drunk as long as he/she can hold onto a blade of grass and not fall off the earth - saw that on a plaque in a Irish pub! Every city celebrates it in different ways. When I lived in Boston, there was a fun parade and lots of family activities. The city of Chicago dyes the river bright green! I don't drink so I'll be celebrating by making an Irish dinner for a few friends and relaxing at home. How about you?

We just wear green. Keeps us from getting the crap pinched out of us..lol..I would love to have the recipe to a nice Irish dish for next year though. Sounds like fun.

I was very surprised that very few folks seemed to wear green this year. I love green and luckily I look good in it so I also was happy to wear the colors! I made a modified version of what my mother used to call her Irish boiled dinner. I made Corned Beef with Cabbage stuffed with veggies. The corned beef is not very healthy but very yummy so the cabbage veggies helped balance it out. I'll pm you the recipes, super simple, great for a week night! Take care!

well i will try to do the traditional wearing on the green if i can find one of my green shirts. I don't look too bad in green and i like that color so it kind of a fun thing to do not much of a drinker at all and i don't go to bars very often can't handle the smoke. Is it just restaurants that have the no smoking policy and you still can smoke in bars? I really don't know i will sometimes have a green milkshake when its St. Patrick's Day that is kind of a nice change from the usual. Where was it that they turned the water green last year was that in Washington D.C. cause that was pretty cool when they did that i would of liked to have seen that live that would be something.

Chicago Illinois has a vibrant St Patrick's day celebration and many Irish folks that live there. They are the ones that color the river every year a very bright bright green. It's safe to the water as it's vegetable based dye and only lasts of about 6 or so hours. I've seen it on tv but never been there at the right time of the year! Many bars here in North Carolina also ban smoking to protect the public. It's becoming more and more popular that they make smokers stand far away from entrances so that non smokers aren't effected.
