You go shopping, go shopping a couple of hours, look carefully at what you buy, choose, go looking for promotions before Easter, go happy to pay, and sit there for half an hour just to pay ... . and surprise, when you get there, you card, with you want to pay is for nothing, they do not accept your card, you can not pay, they demand cash ... and you have only a few cents in your pocket for potential beggars whom they can meet. .. What are you doing? Behind you in line are for more than 20 people are waiting with baskets full to pay, the cashier looked in your eyes to see what you do, you are ashamed, disappointed, unbalanced, do not know what to do, to leave shopping there, are you angry,or call home to get you money, run, free to look back? What do in an awkward situation like this that?

I would be soooo mad if this happened to me, I'll go home ranting about what happened and no I won't ever come back to that store again so it won't be reminding me of the lousy situation I got myself into for being a little, well, stupid. Haha. LoL. I'd be even angrier if it took me for 3 hours to look around the mall before standing in line at one of the counters there to pay for my stuff - only to be disappointed.

You will let the cashier there that really do not have the money to pay? It is better to call someone to get you money, or ask your cashier to keep shopping for one hour during which you can pay your back and everything you bought with cash? It is a shame to let your shopping there, work your 3 o'clock, to choose, to think that it is better to buy .... is not wise to go back?

this happened to us when we're going to buy a refrigerator. i already payed for my credit card bill that morning but didn't know that there was a problem with my bank so the crediting of the payment was delayed. we're about to pay for the unit and my card was declined. me and my bf looked at each other and just told the clerk that we'll be back as the payment wasn't credited yet. i was not embarrassed at that time since i knew it wasn't my fault and its the bank's fault but of course we already signed everything and about to buy the unit and people were staring as well on the line. well that's life.

Oh god...that happened to me. It wasn't as bad as the situation you described but I was in a store, picked out a few items, got in line to pay and then get to the counter to find out I didn't have enough money It was really embarrassing. I just said sorry and hurried out of the store.

I could never imagine that happening to me but if it did I would just say ok thanks and walk out. I would think to myself "I wonder why it wouldn't go through" and then say well maybe it was meant to be. I would wonder more if someone used my card without permission. You know like identify theft.

Oh my I would be sooo embarrassed in a situation like that. I would get so flustered and frustrated and I would hand the stuff back to the cashier and leave the shop as quickly as I could. I wouldn't even want to set foot back in the store for a little while because I would probably be too embarrassed.

The first wrong thing is became nervous and unbalance, because the people who are behind you are 'spraying' about your problem, they just want to came over the table and pay their shops. The seller is looking at you with a borring face thinking : 'tomorrow it's saturday, i hope this end quickly, i want to sleep and wake late...' so you take a chance and tell him if they wait a bit, so you can resolve this. He doesn't what to care if you dont have the money, he wants to get out after 8-9 hour inside the shoping, so he would say to you : 'i haven't time for that' and you became more nervours and ashamed... Its psychological...go for me..(maybe :)) Have a nice shopping !

That is really a tight situation. I guess what I would do is to just act cool because I'm sure that the people in line have experienced the same situation in their lives. If you don't have cash and don't have other means of paying for it, I guess you can just tell the cashier that you'll just get the items later and then just have a discreet exit.
