Professional Musicians~Looking for Tips on Growing Your Business.... | | | | Hi, I'm a piano teacher, professional pianist and clarinet teacher. I'm interested in growing my business. I would like to find more students; but I also feel like I could really be doing more with my music. I play in church on Sundays. But I feel like I could be doing more. I play in nursing homes regularly and play for parties, funerals, weddings, community events once in a while. I hear about other people writing music, recording, etc. I spoke with a friend of a friend who did a recording (with that friend). He said he paid about $5,000 to record his music. That's a small investment when you think long term...but our funds are extremely limited, so it's a lot of money for us right now. I feel like there are different directions I could go in..... Just thought I'd see what thoughts you might have and what your experience has been. I can't go in a million directions, or I won't accomplish anything. I'd like to earn more money with my music, but I don't want this to be all about money. I prefer to minister to people when I can. Okay, shoot me your thoughts and suggestions. And say a prayer for me as well. Thanks much, thepianoladie (aka, artsyfartsygal) | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | Well I am a free-lance music producer and just like you, I am short in budget. What I basically do is make beats or instrumentals and sell them online. They have sites for that particular need. I set my price and for every beat I sell, I get commission because I only upload my beats to online beat-selling sites. Sometimes, there would be months that no one buys my beats, but sometimes, people buy my beats and even if they were just sold for about a few dollars, I still am humbled knowing that there are people who liked my music. Well that's what I normally do. I suggest you stick with lessons, especially to kids since they make-up the majority of those who want to learn how to play piano. Also, personally go to small-time piano bars or hotels and ask if they are in need of pianists. That would be a great help too. | | | | | | | | artsyfartsygal (42)

| | Good morning, PaulaMaula~ Thank you for your reply and for your insights into my situation. Are the websites you're talking about based in the US or elsewhere? Would you be so kind as to post some of these sites in this discussion? That would be helpful. Thanks so much...I really appreciate it!
