I think that my cellular phone started out not only as a need, but also as a savings device. I was always traveling, and a lot of the times, I was traveling alone. So I felt safer with the cellular phone in my vehicle.
Then when they started having phones with contracts, it seemed like such a huge money saver. Of course, I didn't use the bag phone that I had before way too often, but when I did it was extremely expensive. Plus, when I was in hotels I would always call my mom or my brother because they insisted that I keep in touch (since I was traveling alone.)
Now, I use my cellular phone as my main source. Since I got the new plan where incoming calls are free and all calls are free after 7:00 pm, plus calls to other people on the same service are free, I don't go over on my minutes. It's such a great deal too. It is less expensive than a home phone and long distance is free. It is really more of an advantage now, than a necessity!

The effect of cellphone in my life will be giving me convenience wherever I go. I can make a call to my friend, or to my family reporting where I am going. That will be all. Oh, if I have emergency on the road, I can make a call to friends and family too, or 911. Everything else? I can use cell phone to play games while I was waiting at an appointment.
