The Famous Tunnel We're Supposed to See When We're Dying... | | | | This may fall in the same category as Jeff Dunham's random thought, "When you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn?", but it crossed my idle mind, so, I'm asking it. That notorious "light at the end of the tunnel" gets all the attention. Why is it no-one ever describes what the tunnel itself looks like? Hmm? I know after death experiences are real, but just once, could someone who's seen it tell me anything about it? Something? What's it made of? Bricks? Mud? Flesh? ??? Is it small? Large? What shape is it? Rectangular? Arched? It may be dark through most of it, but surely at the end, where the "bright light" shines, one could at least make out some details! Otherwise, how could one know one had been in a tunnel, & not just in some dark room, & not seen some sort of door suddenly open? Since it is universally described as a tunnel, then I'm thinking there must be some way to identify it as such, & thus describe it. Come on guys! Surely someone in MyLot has some answers! Maggiepie Who bets THIS post has never been made! LOL! | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | dark blue velvet, soft and comforting making you feel safe and unafraid, touching it made me feel secure as I walked to the golden light and the figure of Christ, my mom stood to one side of him,his touch was feather light, his voice soft.YOU must go back child,it is not your time yet, do not be afraid. then my] husband tried to start artificial respiration but I croaked out Im not unconscious now, next thing I knew I was in the hospital with pneumonia. The thing that stayed me wasthat I was not afraid not afraid at all. | | | | Maggiepie (2990)

| | LAMB: Thanks! I do try. My Mom had an O.O.B. experience, & she had no heartbeat or breath for half an hour! My Grandmother was praying as she'd never prayed before. Mom just suddenly sat up & started describing everything she'd seen, including parts of the hospital she'd never seen! She'd been brought to the hospital unconscious, & had never been to it before. She had some horrible illness kids routinely got in those days--can't recall...scarlet fever? This was during the Great Depression. She never saw the Tunnel, but she did see a lot of other stuff--all verified by the staff. It was serious. She was nine at the time. One thing I found remarkable. It was in Arkansas, & in those days, there was a "white" side & a "coloreds" side (that was just the lingo of those long-gone times). She described the colored side in great detail, to the astonishment of everyone, & asked why the kids where she'd gone weren't mixed in with her ward, so she could go visit. I believe she was floating in the air when she saw all this. It's solid family history. I believe it, not only because the staff had it on record, but because my Mom was scrupulously religious, & would never lie about something spiritual! Ask anyone who knew her! | | I've got to admit, as much as I've heard the phrase "Light at the end of the tunnel", I've never once thought to wonder what the actual "tunnel" is like! I guess I just always kind of thought there wasn't really much to describe. Maybe the tunnel itself was/is just a dark form or something? I don't know, just rambling lol. | | | | | | | Maggiepie (2990)

| | I guess it started because I'm an artist, & visually oriented. Plus I read some supposed experts who claim it's a typical dream most humans have, but those who experience it say it's not like a dream, but super real, logically sequencing events, & other tells that those who are skeptical & just haven't experienced it can't possibly know unless it happens to them. Which it has, by the way. The skepticism, they who've been through it say, stems from a stubborn belief by atheistic scientists, who assume that which they can't can't measure or photograph just isn't "real." The scientists say it's a human's universal dream caused by brain trauma--which contradicts many facts. Most telling, I think, is that there are those who don't see a Christ-figure, but are instead attacked by hideous creatures, which in many faiths are called demons. That sort come back badly shaken, & immediately clean up their lives! In any case, the Tunnel visions (now there's a phrase! LOL!) are shared by many different faiths--some wildly different from the Christian milieu--& by those with no faith at all, & most curiously, the Tunnel is not always seen, as was the case with my Mom. | | hi maggiepie yep you have done it , made a unique one of a kind discussion. oh yes the tunnel well, I was down on the floor and feeling I had died, the last thing I did was cough until I fainted]then I wasin a dark tunnel only there was a light shining at the opening, a bright light, and I felt as if the tunnel itself was comforting me maybe like a comforter, not quite dark as it looked like some dark shade of blue velvet, and I remember how unafraid I was and how warm and cosy I felt then I came to that bright light and mymom'was standing toone side of this figure whom I knew was Christ. he held out his hand, and I heard words though I was not sure his mouth really moved,my child , when I tried to go to my mom, you must go back now, its not your time. His touch was soft like a feather on my hand, the next thing I knew my husband had picked me put and was about to try artificial respiration when I managed to croak out, honey I am not unconscious now. I told him about all I had seen and he did not make fun of me, but he did call an ambulance and the doctor. I did not know it until I got to the hospital but I had gone from bronchitis to pneumonis and thats why I was so ill. | | | | | | | GardenGerty (35333)

| | I actually nearly died in hospital during the second operation after my heart attack in June 2008. I only know this because the young surgeon, who nearly got it all wrong, kept apologising to me about it for days afterwards. Light, tunnel? I did not see any at all. Nothing but darkness, till my subconscious produced a dream immediately prior to my waking up - the dream had rooms, white lace curtains, very comfortable furniture, and a couple of surgeons in it and was well lit, but there was no tunnel. | | | | | | | Maggiepie (2990)

| | Haven't ever been dead, so I have no idea, but I sort of pictured a cylindrical thing myself, maybe like a subway tunnel, & on the larger side. | | I have not been there that I recall, but I am loving Hatley's response. I agree, this is the first I have seen a discussion like this. Hatley, I love blue velvet, so I wonder if that is what I would see as well. I am fortunate not to have been in any condition that threatened my life up until this time. | | | | | | | Maggiepie (2990)

| | Yes, I'm very fond of velvet, too. One could get quite cozy in velvet. We could do worse! :o) Thanks, too, for noting it's an original topic. I think of stuff like this all the time--but I rarely share it--at least, not with anyone but Elic! Perhaps I should do so more often! :o) Maggiepie "There really is more unknown (& unknowable) to the Universe than any of us can dream!" | | | | | | | Carpal Tunnel Help Guide Step-by-Step Guide Shows Exactly How to Relieve Carpal Tunnel Pain. | | hie maggiepie, this was my mum's story. way back in the 1957, she was ironing our school uniforms for school tne next day. the day sunday night around 7pm, a heavy raining night. the electricity we were using had no earth wire. my mum was struck while ironing and she fell to the hard cement floor with the hot iron on her abdomen. i was there and i saw her like that i cried and called out to my neighbour. she ran in the rain and called my father. he rushed back, he took a wooden stick and off the plug. my mum was motionless. the hospital attendent came in the rain and after checking pronounced her dead.the police came too. what to do accept cry. in the wee hours of the morning, i saw a stirring and my mum moved and asked for water very very weakly, could hardlky hear her. there was silence and nobody went to take water for like 5 to 10 minutes.some were not even aware mum came out of her death. there was confusion as she was given up for dead. she was rushed to the hospital about 35 kilometers away and stayed in the hospital for a long time as i did not see her. the burnt flesh had to be removed, pain and suffering for mum. as the hospital was far way, nobody visited her. i was in primary one and did not understand the full impact. life was a blur, blur image. when we were older, mum told us of this incident and that she was running as fast as she could in a very very long dark narrow tunnel. no time to panic or be scared. just running and running with all her might and energy till she saw a light at the other end. she kept on running towards the light. when she reached the end she was blinded by the bright light and the singing outside and she saw her father in a white flowing gown ( she guessed it was her father who died long ago).he was standing at the tunnel and he stopped her and told her she cannot come out of the tunnel. if she stepped out she could not returned home to us anymore, she must returned as she had 6 small children to feed and clothe. she has unfinished and uncompleted work. the man in white robe, she presumed was her father stressed to her , daughter, you must turn back and go back home to where your children and husband were and found herself on the bed with people around her praying. she was very very thisrty and asked for water to drink. that was her near death experience. she has come back and now live for another 43 years with the fading iron wedge scare on her abdomen side. praise the Lord, mum is alive still today. | | | | | | | Maggiepie (2990)

| | Wow, Graceful! Thank God, indeed! Anyway, your mom couldn't actually see the Tunnel because of the brightness of the light--that makes sense, & I should've realized that might be the case. I've no idea why this never came to my mind. But there must be some sense that tells people they're in a tunnel, & not just in an open area. My best guess is that it's the sense of sound. Echolocation (bats use it to navigate, but to a lesser degree, so do we) would reveal that there were surfaces not far from oneself, & I'll bet most people are unconscious of that ability, especially when they're distracted by the fact that they're not in some place they know at all. It seems that everyone just "knows" they're in a tunnel, & that despite the darkness, they just seem to "know" which way is ahead, & always head in that direction, even though they don't see the light at first! I mean, have you ever heard of anyone running into the walls? I'm glad I began this thread; this bears a lot more exploration & thought! Thanks for sharing your family's miracle! | | I am reading a book currently about life after death and of course the tunnel figures heavily. Yet not a single word is devoted to the material of the tunnel itself. Clearly it is seen as a simple conduit from this life to the next. Perhaps it can be of your own making. Hatley's blue velvet or maybe studded with your own life events as a reminder of the things that you have learned. Perhaps it is brick and dripping with clammy clawing putrid smelling water to make you hurry towards the light. I have read that when you get to the end you can find yourself in a place where you can create the material world with which we are so familiar from "essences" - i.e. dupe ourselves, but why not if it comforts us in a new environment. All that I ask is that the tunnel be warm and leads me to somewhere pleasant; unlike here where most tunnels lead from one dreary part of a city to another! | | | | | | | | | | Light Bulbs Find Solutions For Your Small Business.
