After two weeks of waiting my pepper plants have actually started to sprout. My tomatoes are growing nicely and are about 2 inches high. I thought I had dud pepper seeds but they are starting to make their way up. I can't wait to put them in the ground. This will be my first real garden so hopefully it will go good and the critters won't be helping themselves to my vegetables before I get to them.

Pepper seeds do take a little time to get started but once they get going they should be fine. To help keep critters out of your garden get some hair from the salon and sprinkle it around your plants. The critters will smell human scent and stay away.

My peppers have not come up yet, but my cukes are almost at the flowering point already. Tomatoes are just starting, and onions too.

Hi momathome, it's really fun to see the seeds to sprout. I always try to put two or three seeds in a small plastic bag. This is easy for me to do the transplanting. Before putting the plastic bag with burgeons in it I cut some big holes on the sides and bottom of it. The new roots can then find their ways growing into the ground easily. This is also the way to protect the tender roots
At the moment I have pumpkin, sweet potato and lady's finger growing in the backyard. I do have long beans and small chili growing in the front yard. Everyday there are long beans, as well as baby leaves of sweet potato and chili harvested. It's so nice that we can enjoy eating our own fresh vegetable fresh from the garden

I'm still waiting for my sprouts. I look four or five times a day, but nothing. Of course I've only had my watermelon, cucumbers, cantelope and beans in a week, but I'm still looking. I'm eager/anxious to see what happens. Congratulations on your sprouts!

I am going to rinse off some pepper seeds today and let them dry and then I am going to try and plant them. It's winter here now, so I am going to start them inside and hopefully they will start growing. I have never had a window sill garden before, so I am going to try it and hopefully cut down on the grocery bill while being able to have some fresh vegetables. Sure wish I had a heat lamp for them.
