Megadeth is a thrash metal band formed in 1983 by recently ousted Dave Mustaine from Metallica.

Megadeth was formed for the sole purpose of competing and in my own opinion ultimately surpassing Metallica.

Members: Dave Mustaine - lead vocals/ rhythm and lead vocals
and a revolving group of musicians.

Favorite incarnation of the band:
Dave Mustaine
Dave Ellefson - bass
Marty Friedman - lead guitars
Nick Menza - drums

Recent news:
I'm glad Dave Ellefson's back and Dave Mustaine finally let him back in.

Megadeth's style of music is driven by twin lead guitars and almost mechanical riffing by Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman. Backed by Dave Ellefson's steady bassline and Nick Menza's tempestous drumming this band paved the way for a lot of neo political metal bands. Dave's style of singing is at times sneering and condescending and then gruff and intimidating at times. There are also times where my former bassist said whenever he hears this band it brings to mind the muppets with dave Mustaine as the cookie monster. Haha.

I love Megadeth and here are my top ten songs

6. Elysian fields

8. Angry again
9. Symphony of destruction
10. 99 ways to die

they're not really arranged in the way i like them but a tout le monde is definitely my top 1 in all it's incarnations.

i love Dave Mustaine and megadeth. i also HATE metallica. i was sitting with the kid watching cartoons with the kid a while back. duck dodgers was on. they were all on a space ship and they had to use ROCK AND ROLL to save the.. (i dont remember) anyway. dave mustaine was the rock star that had to do this and he had a case of lost identity. it was the coolest thing i had ever seen and turned the kid into a megadeth fan. haha duck dodgers.

These guys have been a favorite of mine for a long time. I finaly got to see them live a few years ago with Dream theater (my favorite band of all time). It was a great show. I would concure with the line up you gave, I think it is probably their best one, the most technicly proficient and over all made for the best writing chemistry.
I was in a band that did "A Tout Le Monde", it was one of our best songs and one of my favorites. We also did "symphony of destruction". We tried "Bread Line" but it just didn't work for us....but it wasn't one of my favorites, so no big loss there for me. I also have a particular fondess for "Elysian fields", "Tornado of Souls", "Wake up Dead", "Reckoning Day" and "Hook in mouth".

Dream Theater's one of my favorites too :D I'm glad you agree that the lineup I chose was the best one for Megadeth :D
