Adam Lambert to mentor Idol hopefuls next week. What can you say?

When I read this post on Twitter from Adam himself, I just said "Oh no! Come on! Not another one after Miley Cyrus!" I think American Idol this season is not that serious in getting quality and tried-and-tested mentors. How can their contestants improve? i mean there are lots of singers and performers who have been years in the business already. Why are they getting newcomers? Is it just to raise their ratings?

I dont think Adam Lambert should be the mentor. I mean, what are they going to learn from him? There are already a lot of controversies in Adam's performance as an artist and they are going to have him teach the newbies that? I have to say that the this year's batch in american idol is not as good as they were before so I guess they need someone better than Adam Lambert. There are so many artist in the world, I just dont understand why they have to think of him.

You're right. I mean, who's next? The Jonas Brothers? Justin Beiber? That's super ridiculous! I'm really not in favor getting young artists as mentors. For me they're not that credible enough to teach these Idol hopefuls.

I don't have a twitter account but based on what you said i think it's just about the ratings and for variety. I just pity the contestants who will be mentored by those who have not been tested yet except that they had a one hit wonder. On the other hand, the new mentors can give the contestants a first glance of what it really felt like when they were on that same situation and can give them tips on what to do next. Come to think of it, it's the idol winner themselves who can guide a contestant all through out the contest because they can very well say "Been there, done that". Cheers!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Wow Idol needs to go Adam Lambert what a joke! I guess real artists aren't interested in Idol anymore. How about someone who actually has had a successful career. Can't Randy or Simon call in some favors and get some real artists on here as a mentor? AMERICAN IDOL HAS NOW OFFICIALLY JUMPED THE SHARK!
For those of you who haven't heard that term it is when hit show was once good but now just a shadow of what it used to be. This should be Idol's last year.
Does anyone know how the ratings are? I am just wondering since every week is so boring. I guess they only want to keep the little girls happy and who cares about the fans who have watched this show since day one.

You could be right, perhaps it's a corporate move increase ratings. If you pierce the veil of Hollywood shows, if you remove the glitz and glamor, one thing's for sure -- all of them are profit-oriented.
