Relocating to a new home  email this discussion to a friend?

This is one final move for the three of us: my wife Marissa, our son Immanuel Genesis or Geeboy, and me. When Geeboy was yet to be born, we lived in a very small apartment home in Cupang, Muntinlupa. Then when our living condition was getting worse (the nearby creek was a health hazard because of its bad odor), we decided to transfer to a more spacious and yet cheaper apartment unit in San Pedro, Laguna, in the same subdivision as my sister's. That's where Geeboy successfully formed in her mom's womb (good environment did help) after 3 years of waiting. Four months into motherhood, I sent Marissa home in Ibaan, Batangas to ensure she would have good pregnancy. After she delivered Geeboy, we decided to stay in town. We lived in her family's house in barangay Pangao for more than 2 years, until we were able to build a small house (actually a kitchen with rooms for expansion) adjacent to that of my family's. So here comes the period of adjustment. It is as if we've only been recently married, while in fact, we will celebrate our sixth anniversary this year. This is the real thing as far as building a family is concerned. I have to make sure we have money to spend for our needs, and for Geeboy's future. Marissa will shop and prepare our meals and everything that her mother was doing when we stayed with her family. Plus some inconveniences such as the water supply that only comes at night, certain house utilities that we still lack, and the insects that bite Geeboy's skin and annoy Marissa. We are in for certain changes that will sometimes test our patience. But the sweet thing is we have a home, no matter how small, which we are sure to cherish, especially as it is really expensive to afford one these days and as many are still renting or otherwise, no place they can call their own. How about you? How were you able to cope up with your relocation experience?

Hello mannymatters! welcome to myLot! I am also a native of Philippines, and currently we are residing at my sisters 2 bedroom house, free of charge. I am very thankful to her especially his husband, my brother in law for helping us ever since. This October we will be celebrating our 7th year wedding anniversary, and i do hope that we could celebrate our 8th anniversary to our new home that was still in the process of construction.

I never experience to relocate in a far away place, we relocate once but its a walking distance from our 1st home while my sister built a new house from there. I didn't know if what would be my experience when we move to our house probably this year or early next year, but im sure it will never be a big adjustment because its not that far from here. Glad that you're having your own home now. We are dreaming for it too and im happy because we will be having our own too, soon. Goodluck and more power!

Thanks for the response. I forgot to mention in my post that we also stayed with my sister's family in San Pedro right after our marriage, and we're also very thankful with her and her husband, Roger. It was five years ago. I know you'll be very happy when you finally live in your own home. Your first few days will be a test as you discover some things that you still don't have, but regardless of size, you'll enjoy each day making little improvements here and there. Good luck to you, too. God bless.
