| | I think they are basically the same thing, I may be wrong but my best guess would be that they preform the same way. | | | | | | | | | | Parallel Programming Tips Know what the pros know. Expert parallel programing tips and tricks. drdobbs.com/go-parallel | add comment | | | |

| | they are basically not the same.. the major difference is that core2 duo is the latest and it has bigger cache and more speed then dual core.. dual core is basically pentium processor.. and pentuinm technology is older... | | | | | | | | | | Semiconductors Find Semiconductors Solutions For Your Business. | | From what I read online, Dual Core is just a cheaper and weaker version of the Core 2 Duo. Dual Core is not to be confused with D, later is basiclly two P4s put together. The Core family is an entirely new entity, designed from ground up, I won't go into details, as you can find lots more on your own. So basiclly they are the same, as they are built on the same Core architecture. Core 2 Duo is the premium version, with all the intented processing power and cache, Dual Core is the strip-down version of the former, selling with a cheaper price. CPUs are made in a whole batch, depending on individual chip's performance after cutting, they will be classified with their level of "quality". The better ones will have higher performance, therefore selling for a premium price. In the other hand the not so perfect ones will become the strip-down ones, like the Dual Core here. Rather than design a new CPU with different speed everytime, you can just use the same batch of chips, pick the ones suit your needs, and give them different names for their performances, in the end you will have different products! Is economical, and reduces costs, plus is a very smart way to market different CPUs for different consumer segments. | | | | | | | | | | Find Electronics Online Find Buisnesses with Local Search! www.local.com | add comment | | | |

| | Intel® Core™2 Duo processor: You'll experience revolutionary performance, unbelievable system responsiveness, and energy-efficiency second to none. And, you won't have to slow down for virus scan, multiple compute intensive programs, or multimedia downloads—these desktop processors are up to 40 percent faster with improved energy-efficiency. Intel® Dual-Core Technology: The Intel dual-core processor consists of two complete execution cores in one physical processor. Imagine that a dual-core processor is like a four-lane highway—it can handle up to twice as many cars as a two-lane road without making each car drive twice as fast. Similarly, with an Intel dual-core processor, you can do more at once than ever before, without slowing down: •Boost multitasking power with improved performance for highly multithreaded and compute-intensive applications •Reduce costs and use less power with energy-efficient Intel dual-core processors built on Intel® Core™ microarchitecture •Enjoy flexibility and the performance to handle robust content creation or intense gaming with multimedia-enabling technologies built in Intel® Pentium® D Processor: With an Intel Pentium D processor-based PC featuring two full processing cores, you get the flexibility and performance to handle multimedia entertainment, digital photo editing, even multiple users, simultaneously. Your PC gets resources for multitasking, and you get to accomplish more while running multiple applications, such as editing video while downloading music. | | | | | | | | | | Cut Painting Time in Half World's fastest paint edger Get Professional-Quality Results www.painthelpers.com | add comment | | | |
