out of concern for the health of my children, i recently made a check on the household products we use to clean our homes. i was appalled to find out and how could i have not noticed that some of these contain toxins and pollutants which are both harmful to our health as well as the environment. i'v since thrown them away and am looking for some eco-friendly alternatives which are safer, greener and perhaps cheaper. anything to share my dear myLotters. appreciated very much! :)

I'm a fan of lysol. I don't know if they're environmentally friendly but I think their products do wonders in killing germs and bacteria and the likes that could be harmful to you and your children.

"The main ingredient in the Lysol products is benzalkonium chloride, which is highly toxic to fish and other aquatic life, mildly toxic to birds and only slightly toxic — passing as safe — to mammals." (http://1800recycling.com/...)

Congratulations for taking better care of your families health. Baking soda is great for cleaning sinks and counters. It is good for the laundry too. It is not abrasive and cleans good. For most cleaning I use this solution. 1/2 cup white vinegar, 1 pint rubbing alcohol(mint scented if desired. I like the fresh scent)1 teaspoon dish detergent, mixed with 1 gallon water. Put in spray bottle. It cleans counter tops, stoves, windows just about every thing. for more ideas you can go to
