I am suffering from agony right now because of my dysmenorrhea. It is very painful and I don't know what to do to lessen the pain. I want to work but I am so slow because of what I am feeling right now. What do you usually do when you have it? Do you drink or eat something that lessens the pain? Please share. Happy mylotting to all!

Bless your heart Annierose! When I had periods they were always so very painful.. I used Motrin (Ibuprofen) over-the-counter. I would say that you might need to see your gynecologist if the pain is not relieved. There could be something going on inside there... please get checked if it continues. Sometimes there is a physical reason for dysmenorrhea.

I always suffer from dysmenorrhea and I hate it so much since it feels like I can't really move i=on in my daily activities because of too much pain. And what I hate most if I tend to have dysmennorhea while I am at my work place since I can't really do things properly.

In my case, I would tend to take some pain relievers, usually those light analgesics only but if it doesn't work, that's the time I would go to the most strong analgesics. Usually, I will just tend to sit in one corner since I feel like drowsy if I do stand up. It feels like my world is turning around if it's really very painful. And yeah, sometimes, I would go to the comfort room and just sit in there and will just come out if I am relieve or somebody knock the door just to hide myself up.happyhappy

And we need to make some sacrifices as well since it's part of us. And we need to accept the fact. I envy those ladies out there who is not experiencing dysmenorrhea, I always wish I don't have this kind of pain.

Ive never been diagnosed with dysmenorrhea but I suspect I have it. I get severe pains and very heavy menstuations. My doctor classifys it as being irrgeular and heavy. Told me last year with switching birh control it will help yet it hasnt. I just recently switched birth control and hoping it helps. Also, Im for the next few months taking my birth control straight through for 3 months so basicdally stoppinng my period for 3 months and so forth. I find I eat way less but drink a load more water or sweet juices. I also find I crave sweets more then ever so I stock up on chocolate way before. But I find Im very uncomfortable and cant work properly. I know a lot of my proffs as well managers at work comment on it. Yet what am I suppose to say since they dont understand.

hi ricki,

It is like mine also. And sometimes, I don't have period for one month then then next month that will follow is very bloody. It seems as if my menstruation for last month wasn't able to come out that time that it make its time way out the following month.

dysmenorrhea (a medical condition characterized by severe uterine pain during menstruation).for treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, most doctors prescribed antiprostaglandin drugs or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen.these drugs inhibit synthesis of prostaglandins, lessen the contractions of the uterus and reduce the menstrual flow.
These drugs should be started at the onset of bleeding to avoid inadvertent use during early pregnancy and taken for 2-3 days.
Oral contraceptives are another alternative.By stopping ovulation and decreasing prostaglandin levels, they may eliminate cramps.

as for me,sometimes i drink boiled leaves of sambong, only the extracts itself.don't eat sambong leaves.sometimes it lessens the pain.sometimes we suffer dysmenorrhea because there are whole blood that are being stucked inside of us.sambong leaves help to let it out.so,it's a relief.it can also treat kidney problems.

I also experience dysmenorrhea every time I had my monthly period. The solutions that work for me to prevent it from happening or worsening is by drinking ponstan sf, but make sure you ate a full meal to prevent experiencing other pains. I only do this for emergent purpose. But if I sense that I am about to have my monthly period like maybe a week before it happened, I either exercise by jumping jacks or massage the lower back part of my back. Remember also not to eat salty foods, my mother said it has an effect why I suffer that kind of pain every time I had a period. Drinking coke also help. I don't know if it has a scientific reason or anything but it works for me. :)
