The sad flight of Philippines Sports in youth development: Solution/s anyone?  

that is the saddest part because our country do not have budget and do not have bill for recreation programs. sad to say our country is always out of budget, even on schools. if they have budget or plans they should have recreation area or GYM a place where student will play and develop their athletic skills. even on international competitions, we do not spend or give enough budget for the training for the athletes. i wish and pray that our government will noticed and see what was happening in our youth today. many are out of school, do not have love of sports and prefer to work at very young age for them to survive. lots of problem our country is facing now. helping and praying will improve our country. good luck to us and have a nice day!

Being so active in sports, I could feel your concern. The value of sports has been overlooked and a lot of raw talents and potential sports stars aren't discovered and developed because of the very poor implementation of the rules and support. Filipinos have already proven that we are capable to become world class champions in specific areas of sports such as combat sports/martial arts and individual sports. However, though the government isn't that supportive in sports, there are still a lot of Filipinos who have made it really big in their respective sports and indeed brought a great name for the Philippines. First of all, Manny Pacquiao is hailed as the best pound-for-pound boxer who ever lived. Pacquiao flourished under Freddie Roach, an American. Just lately, 3 Taekwondo jins have won gold medals in the recently held World Poomsae Championships. These 3 Taekwondo jins have helped promote the sport Taekwondo in the Philippines and at the same time, made the Filipino people so proud once again for their feats. How did these jins become a world caliber champions? By training abroad. The Philippine Team have sent a delegation to Korea just to train for a few months before competing and even just for additional inputs and new revisions. If we stay and rely on the government, we won't get anything.

So how could we solve or at least produce very high quality athletes? Just like Pacquiao and the 3 taekwondo jins, they went out and looked somewhere else to train. If private companies would support different sports programs, then pretty sure the status of sports here in the Philippines would increase. Some UAAP and NCAA are backed privately by some alumni and their support have proven to be so worthy.
