Have you been to any where legends are steeped and alive?

There was this ancient ruin I visited recently. It's up in a mountain and part of an ancient temple. There was a beautiful area with small ponds around with waters from the ground through a marvellous drainage system. The locals believe it used to be the showering place of ancient princesses, princes, kings and queens and the royal household of one great dynasty. It's waters are cool, clear and very refreshing. Legend has it that those who bathe or drink its waters may have their wishes fulfilled. I'm not really superstitious. But then again I'm not one who oppose it as something nonsensical and needs to be challenged. I just want to have a good time bathing. Do you believe in something like this? Have you been to any where legends are steeped and alive?

Hi, I just came across this discussion and hope it will continue. I too experienced the feeling that I was walking into a living legend while in Ireland. It seems that ancient beliefs are just below the surface in that beautiful country. One of the most spiritual (in a non-denominational way) was Newgrange, an ancient structure built 1000 years BEFORE Stonehenge. It is a beautiful, mystical, magical place--and all the more amazing because of its size, and the amount of rocks that needed to be hauled from 100s of miles away in order to complete it. And the inner chamber lines up directly with the sun's rays on winter solstice! Truly an amazing place, and very much alive. I have to say we felt the same way about Stonehenge itself--we were the only ones there on a cold afternoon, and I swear you could hear the Druids chanting and whispering through the rocks. Another wild, beautiful and mystical place.

Hi Suzieqmom! I can't help but to be drawn into your beautiful experience in Newgrange although I've not been there before. I believe you've enjoyed very much and reading it is a great pleasure on my part. This is the most beautiful part of any holiday/trip I believe. I hope it has filled your live with positive things and more coming your way. Thank you so much for dropping by.

I haven't been to anywhere like that, but nice story. ANyway I know I'm not supposed to believe in such things as legends and myths, but I do. I'd like to make-believe they really happened. LoL. It really enlivens my imagination.

Hey kquiming! It's not that bad after all when your wishes come true isn't it? Not a bad place to spend the time, either. So, just enjoy. Thanks so much for your thought! :)
