To know the value of human life we will have to evaluate it first. We will have to know its nature. Know the quality of human life; know its ability; the extent, and the significance of it. Now what is human nature? In the days of yore, the human nature used to be akin to animal nature. I need not elaborate here what his nature used to be. From creature, he had changed into a man. He had an upright posture. He had power to think and reason. He was not as instinctive as before. Then there came a qualitative change in his nature. He had turned more kindly and humane. He developed qualities in him of being patient and tolerant. He was sympathetic even towards those who were not his own. Most important of all he had developed a conscience. Conscious motives guided him rather than the instincts. He began to think with his mind rather than his heart. However, not all, but only some had begun to realize the value of human life. Not everyone had become civilized, though these had human features; but their nature was still an animal nature. They were far crueler than the cruelest of animals. They lied, they cheated, and they killed their fellow beings. We have been through two world wars. We killed millions with the nuclear bombs. We have witnessed the holocaust. Seeing all this we have to sit back and question the quality the human life. We ask is it the true nature of man? Will human life serve the purpose for which it came into existence? Let us ask ourselves a question. Did human life acquire a value during its sojourn on this planet? If we look back, we will know what we have been doing so far. We have been exploiting the nature. We have released so much toxic substances into the atmosphere that has brought us on the brink of extinction. The environment is no longer fit for human inhabitation. We have polluted the environment of this earth and now we are seeking to pollute the environment of other planets as well. What value human life has if it is an enemy of nature? If we have not yet attained the human values then we still are not human yet. All we can do now is to pretend to be human. We are able to show love though we do not love; we can show ourselves to be patient though we are not patient; we can show ourselves to be tolerant though we are not tolerant. We are not even truly sympathetic. We can only make a show of sympathy; we know it is not real. We can pretend to be human through conscious effort, but not naturally. For attaining true human values, we will have to bring all the qualities into our conduct. The qualities we show in ourselves merely through pretense. For that there has to be a sea change in human nature. What sea change do you envisage in human nature in coming years?

For the years to come, i see humans becoming corrupt because of power. Power has a lot of influence to humans and it really changes them to something else. There's this side of human nature that awakens whenever a normal person rises to power.

So, according to you world is turning worse, it is not turning better. The animal became man and man became human. I expected him to turn divine, but I see you think that man will turn into animal again. I do not think so. Thanks for your post.
