I'm thinking that I would really like to try to upgrade and get a new laptop or a desktop. I think the macs are really neat but they are so expensive. Most of what I use my laptop for is schoolwork, social networking(facebook), checking email, etc. I haven't been playing games much lately. I noticed that Apple has an education discount but my funds are way tight right now so I'm not entirely sure what I think about it. Do you have experience with a Mac and if so, how easy was it to learn how to use? One of my biggest concerns would be switching over because I feel like they are so much different from PC's. What are your thoughts?

Hi,

I would go with a Windows 7 laptop find a good built one with good reviews that is cheap.. Mac sure the new leopad or how ever you spell it looks good, but once it comes down to it windows would be better since it supports more applications more people use it and you can run linux to learn on as well.

Thanks for your response! Money is definitely something that I'm trying to think about when I'm looking at computers. I've had the laptop I have now since 06 and I'm starting to think that now that I'm painfully close to graduating college, its getting to be time for an upgrade. I've heard about how the mini netbooks are pretty cheap.

Don't listen to the other one. Macs are so easy to learn to use, and you can install both Linux and Windows on it thumbup

There are hundreds of videos on Apple's website about all the "Mac tricks and tips". I can guarantee you that you will feel soo much better with a Mac after you have used it for max a week "actively" thumbup

Macs are just so "clean", good looking, powerful and the best w00t

Thanks for your input. I'm trying to consider all that I hear about each different brand so that I'm not too biased. I know that once people go Mac, they don't go back!

If you want to get a new computer or a new laptop, why not try buying a mac? As the last post says, macs are so easy to use and fun to learn. Some features of the mac are Docks, applications which has everything in one file, Safari (which I use to do simple things), Finder, System preferences, and much more. Contact Apple's website or go to the apple store near you if you have any questions. The apple store also has everything from the Macbook Pro to the Mac Pro (which is the most powerful computer yet). I recommend the computer that is right for you. For instance, if you want the iMac, which has everything from speakers to a microphone to a built-in iSight.

So, would you rather get a big and bulky PC that doesn't get you what you want, or would you rather get a mac, preferably the iMac? It's your call, your decision.

Thanks for your response. You're pretty helpful. I'm just starting to think about getting a new computer now. I don't have very much money but its something that is on my mind. I'm trying to do some research and get opinions about it so that I will know more about it when it does come time for me to buy a new computer. Do you use a Mac?

As a matter of fact, I do use a mac. I have an 20-inch iMac, with everything in it. I go to the apple store at times, practically going 2 times a month. Last time I went to the apple store was yesterday, with my mom. Anyways, I've had the iMac (this is my first mac computer) since November 2008, so I'm pretty sure that once you buy a mac, I'm guaranteed that you will never go back to a PC again.

Yeah, that's what happened to me too thumbup

My father had always used Macs, and he gave me his old MacBook which I am still using right now thumbup

I have never seriously though of getting a PC even if I haven't really used one, because I know the pain that it can give thumbup

I kinda do want to start saving up for one. I always hear so many positive things about them. I like how they have anti-virus included that you don't have to pay for. I want to keep looking at them. It might be a while before I can afford to get a new computer but I'd like to start looking at them in the stores. My parents won't buy me another computer...I'm a college senior and money is tight...

I have an update. My mom ordered me a new Dell laptop last night. I'm very happy with what she ordered. I was hoping for one that was a pretty color but I guess a black one is cool. We got a laptop sleeve for it to protect it when I carry it to class with me and it should be here around the beginning of June. Thanks everybody for your input. I'll let you know when I get it. I can't wait!
