problem focusing |
| |
| I have a canon eos rebel xsi and Lately I have been having trouble with the camera not wanting to focus when i try to zoom in for a closeup Ive been trying to get really close to the middle of flowers and other smaller things and it doesnt want to focus. Im getting frustrated with it. even if it looks very clear when im looking through it it just freezes up and dont want to take. I have two lenses for it the one that comes with the camera and then one that says 55-250mm it zooms in pretty close but i still cant seem to get it to focus right. Is there a way to turn auto focus off or does anybody have any tips on how I can get it to focus right when im trying to take pictures of aunts and flowers and other smaller stuff. Any help would be appreciated. thanks clntigger | | | | | |

| | you could switch to manual mode and focus it yourself. although you have to set individual settings like aperture, white balance, exposure. since you want to take close up pictures, IT IS RECOMMENDED and a rule of thumb to use the MACRO mode. macros let you use take really close pictures. even if you have a lens that has great magnification, you still need to go to MACRO to take close ups of small things. here's a tip (for close up pictures). If it's as big or bigger that a human head, use manual mode. for anything smaller, use macros | | | | | | |

| | I think you should be using the macro mode or the super macro mode in the camera. Though I think you should already be knowing this as you have a eos I just told because you asked me to. If you are already in macro or super macro then you need to do some manual adjustments. Hope this helps. | | | | | | |

| | It's not macro MODE that you need but a macro lens. Small digital cameras that have fixed lenses have macro mode. In slr you need to change a lens to get the effect you want. Your lens has a certain focus range and past that it can't focus. You can try this by backing up a little when you camera can't focus. When you are far enough of the subject it should focus and that is the closest you can focus. Like in my nikons kit lense it around 30cm. So if you want to take closeup pictures of lets say flowers or other small things you need to buy a macro or a supermacro lens. This goes for other things as well like if you want to take large landscape pictures you need to buy a Wide-angle lens. | | | | | | |

I found lens set on ebay that has four lense that just goes over the current lense. dont know if it will work but its better then spending so much for a new lense eventually hopefully i can afford a new lense but they are expensive they cost more than the camera. but thanks this is very usefull information i didnt know. | | | |

| | seek out a good Macro Lens, or a good telephoto zoom with macro mode (usually a 300mm would be ok). and also practice at having steady hands, or get a good heavy tripod. if you've got the funds, make sure the lens that you're using is a 'fast' lens. meaning that your biggest aperture is like a 2.0 or even a 1.8..more light coming in, the better. if you want to take pictures of ants, you really need that fast lens...then you can use faster shutter speeds with larger apertures.. | | | | | | |

| | maybe it is too close that you have reached that limit of that lens' capability to focus. Get a good macro lens and you should be fine. | | | | | | |
