As I know good games won't be free. But here, there is a site for free softwares download. They host all open source software. That means it's free, the gain support from volunteers and donations. You can finds a lot of games there, unfortunately most games are still in their development stage, but some are pretty nice to play. You should check it out:

They have alot of games which you can download and play free for an hour. The games themselves for members are only a few dollars to buy, but i know alot of people who just use them for the hour then go and get another one. There are simulations and hidden objects etc.
