Do you think that developers and builders be permitted to build big hotels and tourist complexes in the most beautiful places in your country? I have seen that the entire area gets commercialised in time and the spot begins to loose its virgin beauty and charm. It happens in all parts of the world. But, now people are becoming more aware of such things and are protesting .Many countries are bringing in stricter laws so that we can conserve our environment without thinking only about our profit and convenience. No doubt many would argue that without these hotels one would not be able to enjoy the place since more people would visit it when there is a place to cater to their needs... What are your views and opinions on this friends?

Hi Kiran, let me tell of my city in Orissa, 20 years ago there was not a single big hotel, mall, super markets or multistorey apartments, there was enough of open space and trees, but now there are sevberal, the trees were cut, the paddy fields are gone, the trees on road sides were cut in the name of road widening The result, weather is too hot, cost of lands went sky high, people sold their paternal lands There are politicians and corrupted govt officials behind the builders, we cant help.. Thank you so much for this nice discussion, cheers God bless you. Prof

It is the same everywhere in every state. In Manipal there is a spot known for its beauty. You can see the river curving from a hill top and it was called End Point. Many films were shot there and it used to be a spot visited by many people during summer. They would just sit and enjoy the beauty of the place. But the city corporation has come up with its office there and now it is a mess...Similarly western ghats are being ruined by oil companies, power projects and hotels coming all over the place...

I like it when I see thatched beach huts that blend well with the green palm trees. I hate to see high rise hotels and large hotel complexes on beautiful beaches. Thinking about the Pacific Ocean Waikiki Beach is full of high rise hotels. Further south French Polynesia and Samoa are less spoilt. I care a lot about the enviroment so I like taking photos and leaving footprints.

Hi maximax, I too feel the same way ! Take for example a place like Goa , the suburbs and the smaller villages are still unspoilt and thats is the real charm of the place.Goans are very particular about maintaining it that way, tiled roof houses and verandahs and porticos in the front and unspoilt beaches. But then the politicians push things through as it happens with most places around the world ..
