Hiking Boots |

| As the weather starts to warm, I am thinking of going hiking. However, I do not have any boots. I was wondering if any of you could recommend some to me? | | | | | |

| | I prefer the military boots, because they take good care of your ankles. It is really stupid if you are hiking in the mountains and suddenly your hurt your ankle. It is very painful and sometimes you have to cancel the hike because of that. I guess you can find them in the surplus of the US army. | | | | | | |

| | I have a pair of hiking boots made from Goretex and they are great...waterproof and easy to care for. Even after a wet, muddy hike I just dry them out and shake off the mud. They don't need lots of polishing or specialist cleaning. | | | | | | |

| | I have a Merrell(mid-cut) and Scarpa(hi-cut) hiking boots both sporting a leather/gore-tex uppers, vibram soles and PU mid-soles. My boots serves and performs well. Gore-tex offers breathability and preventing water from entering making it waterproof, so its good for trailing for hours letting your feet breath and keep it dry when it rains, cross through muds or do some river crossings. Get a mid or hi cut, it'll protect your ankles. Also consider the comfortability of the boot on your foots, you wouldn't want an achy foot on the middle of your hike. breaking in your new boots is also good before you hit the trails. Recommendation depends on how much you are willing to spend for a hiking boot. Theres a wide variety to choose from. | | | | | | |

| | It all depends on the type of hiking you are doing and your surroundings. Where I usually hike its relavently flat ground and we arnt climbing so I wear regular running shoes. But throughout the winter I will be saving up and buying myself some hiking boots. | | | | | | |
