| |  I personally don't like war movies because they are always so gruesome & violent, but there are a few that reach out with their story & grab at my heart, one of those movies is a foreign movie called "Life Is Beautiful". It is set during WWII, the time of the Nazi's. It's a very sad & tragic story, but something that is definitely worth watching.

| | yah this is the correct title to my last entry A Beautiful Life. Life is Beautiful/La Vita E Bella is an Italian Film written and directed by Roberto Benigni. He also starred as the main character Guido and won an 3 Oscars including best actor in leading role, best foreign language film and best music and original score. It's a beautiful story about a Jewish man and he's love for his family in the era where Jew was hunted and persecuted. | | | |

| |  I don't watch as many war films as I used to do but my favourites would be quite a few of those you listed like Schindler's List, Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter and Black Hawk Down. My favourite at the moment which I watch at least once a month is We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson set during the Vietnam War. I think it is a really powerful film.

| | hands down Saving Private Ryan. A lot of the movies you mentioned are good, sure, but none of them are as visceral and as moving as SPR. From the groundbreaking opening scene, to the characters. Tom Hanks' character alone is a bomb by itself. A schoolteacher, out in the middle of Europe, fighting nazis.
And for what it's worth, they were robbed of the Best Picture award. Shakespeare In Love? Seriously??

| | I think Forrest Gump can be considered a War Movie. Although it did not really focus on war but War is also a significant part of that movie :)
