Fun facts about Watermelon  

Watermelon. What wonderful fruit(Oh sorry! vegetable), that rejuvenates during summer. Thanks for the Good information on watermelon. Even watermelon seeds can be dried and used.

Sorry, but watermelon is actually not a vegetable. By the technical definition, a fruit is the part of the plant which contains the seeds. Since watermelon contains the seeds of the plant, it is in fact a fruit- and by that definition, pumpkins, cucumbers, and squash are also fruits. Watermelon is also classified as a fruit by culinary definitions. What is surprising is that watermelon is actually a very large berry (or "pepo," as botanists call it).
Still, the information about watermelons' use in ancient Egypt is quite interesting.

Very interesting to know this information that is new for me.
I had no idea that watermelons were harvested in Egypt and placed in the Kings tombs.
Next time I eat a watermelon, I'll will remember these facts.

You are right! Watermelon belong to the same family with squash and cucumber but I think I have to disagree with you when you said it is a vegetable. The reason for that is because all vegetables are fruits of a certain. Its just that they are classified as vegetables and classified as fruits.

No I did not know that watermelon was a vegetable.

I love to eat watermelon and have it as juice during hot summer.It is sweet and refreshing.I always thought watermelon is a huge fruit and not a vegetable.Also, the facts about Egyptian Hieroglyphics is very interesting, maybe I should search for more informations on Google.
