The 3.5 inch Floppy Disk versus the USB Thumb Drive?

I have been a fan of the USB thumb drive for the past 7 years. It's very practical, handy and great to move around with, as far as data storage medium is concerned, at least. Today thumb drives come in various shapes and sizes with speedier and increasing capacities with each passing day. More and more people seem to be using the thumb drives now as compared to the floppy disks. But floppies, some thought of them as obsolete, still persist in Japan and some other countries. Besides, some old devices like music synthesizers, factory machines and PCs still read or read only the floppies. Despite a sales of 12 million pieces in its last fiscal year ending March 2009, Sony which pioneered the 3.5 inch floppy disk in 1981 will end the production of the floppies in March 2011. This was reported in CNet on April 25 2010. Do you use a floppy disk or a usb thumb drive for data storage? Which is a better data storage medium: a floppy disk or a usb thumb drive? Between the 3.5 inch floppy disk and the usb thumb drive, which do you think would be the most popular data storage medium? What do you think the next data storage medium would be like? Your responses are very much appreciated!

I'm already contented with usb thumb drive. But if my wide imagination would allow, I think I would want a chip that could be stored inside our bodies then whatever stored in it would just be scanned through a device and place it on the computer.

thumb dr - easy, practical, handy...
Hi Saranggola! Yes it is. The price is cheaper now than it used to be. I'm sure you must have felt the benefits of using an USB thumbdrive as a data storage medium. Sure it must have made your tasks a lot easier isn't it? And that's great! Your imagination may just be the in thing in years to come. But you may not be able to keep any more secret with you. Once it is scanned, there goes your history. Unless you invent your personal code to keep it secured and safe and obviously from being erased. Hehe... Like your imagination! :) Thanks for sharing. Have a beautiful afternoon! Take care!
