My parents were on vacation, so I have to cook myself at home. I couldn't eat out every single day, that is out of budget. So, I decided to go to publix and shop the other day. I bought some T-bone steak and Italian sausage, I try to cook eventually.
I heat up the skillet with cooking oil, and pan fry the T- bone steak with any seasoning or marinate with any sauce. Yeah, I well - done the steak, but without any taste on it. Although I add the A - 1 sauce on top of the steak, it still tasted yucky. What am I missing here? Marinate the steak with some sauce; maybe grill it in the oven for 20 minutes or so, then fry it with the skillet. Is that right?

Hi kingparker If you go to the below website it gives you some very good info on grilling a steak which by the way is the only way to cook a steak in my opinion. Never marinate prime or choice steak or you will ruin it..20 minutes is way way to long. 20 minutes per pound is the standard rule for a roast but not a steak. Be sure your steak is seasoned well before cooking and never cook meat straight from the frig. Let it stand at room temp for at least 20-30 minutes. Refrigerater cold meat going to hot heat shocks the meat and will usually make it tough..Check out this site and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me..Good luck..J
