How many of you ere a Boy Scout or Girl Guide and what did it mean to you?  

Me too I was a brownie from age 7 to 11 but a guide for only a couple of years - it was the 60s being a guide was, well ......... Hey "I will do my best to do my duty to God and the Queen, to help others and be a good guide. Sh$$$ after all these years too!

I was a cub for just over a year and im sorry to say it wasnt a very positive experiance we really ever did anything my impression is there suppose to encourage you to work towards badges but we rarly ever did this. I met up with another cub/scout later on in my life whilst in high school and he did tonnes from camping to conoeing and actually earning badges. So my impression of the cub/scout movement isnt a good one but i get the feeling my particular section wasnt any good but the overall movement is good at helping kids get away from the tv etc.
My best experiance of a youth group was when i was 13 years old and a new group was created at the local fire station called cheshire fire cadets and i had some of the best experiances of my teenage years there. we did pretty everything a fire fighter does apart from fight real fires. We rolled out hoses wore breathing apperatus used the special cutting tools learnt first aid everything really and we went on trips to manchester airport and outwood bound trips to wales and a trip to raf vally in wales
