whispering wind

I haven't used open mike for a discussion until today. I am sitting here and it's hot out and the wind is blowing something terrible. I opened a window...just a tad cuz the forceful winds blew my papers off the table but the wind is whispering around the corner of the house and creeping into the slightly open window and it sounds like sad and lonely. I was wondering if any of guys hear the sadness of the wind the way I do and hear the lonliness of its voice? So sad ............like a child lost and looking for it's mother.

Yeah I do often hear the whispering sound of the wind especially during the rainy season here in the tropical part of my country. Your interpretation about the winds is very nice but I guess we have different ideas on how to interpret the behavior of such winds. I can say that the winds here are most likely angry and destructive in nature where it can damage several houses especially during typhoons.

Hi Quita... I guess, I have had experienced this state many times in my life... Many a evenings, I have spent sitting in the balcony and feeling immensely sad. The reasons were different always, of course... But it did happen... In every such instant, the atmosphere around seemed so happy and joyful... There were happy people outside. And I was the only one and the lonely one over there... Almost all of such experiences happened in the evenings only and in summer evenings, generally... In summer it is real hot during the day and in the evening there is light breeze, which reminds me that there is joy out there and only I am so sorrowful...

Yes Quita, I agree with Cyrus... Your post is truly relaxing, soothing and beautiful... And I also agree that my sorrow is due to my lady not being with me... Sometimes, I don't understand how to cope with it... There are many issues which are yet to overcome... And we're struggling financially... I know that life will be beautiful someday and your post assures me so... I simply hope that that time will come soon... I miss her... Thanks a lot for cheering me up Lady... Have a nice time!!

I am inclined to think your sorrow is due to your lady not being with you. The wind has its way with our hearts and we take the sounds differently as all humans do with the forces of nature. On a still night when one can hear the croaking of the frogs and watch intently as fireflies dart for limb to limb on my trees and the slightest breeze touches my cheek and I am in heaven on earth ! Do not be sad. You are on your way to a wonderful new life. hugs, quita

I guess that is why I like wind chimes, you can't hear the wind whispering when they are out there clanging away!

I actually quite like wind, quita, I've been known to stand out during a storm or open the windows so I can enjoy the wind...

Well! Welcome to Open Mike, Quita! Yes, I've sat through many a night listening to the wuthering of the dark wind, by turns weeping, growling, moaning pitifully, sometimes eerily whistling. It is quite a voice, & it's no wonder it raises so many people's hackles. It can be frightening. But I too hear sadness in it. It's like some lonely, great beast, hunting, seeking..in vain for its mate, or its offspring, or, as you say, its mother. But who can comfort the wind? There's the saddest part of all. It's inspired many a story for me. Maggiepie Thomas Jefferson: " ... democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

Very well put ! Seems we have a lot in common. We've had multiple storms here for the last several days and the wind is the culprit as I see it.... along with high temps and extremely high humidity Mother Nature has been scorned and is showing her anger. I suppose the wind plays an important part in my emotional state next to the overriding happenings of the day here. In essence if things go well, the wind is soothing, if things go rotten as is mostly the case, then the wind's sadness touches me deeply. I cry sometimes as I listen. I have an overactive mind to begin with and I can see/imagine a child or as you say beast searching in vain for it's mate or in a child's case his mother. It's a feeling of foreboding for me...........and yet, I wallow in it. I think we as humans need to feel the comfort of sadness on occasion. It keeps us humble. There are forces that we cannot control in our own back yards and the universe takes the wheel so to speak and we are powerless to the outcome. Ah, yes, the stories the wind evokes in our souls ! Someday I will share my own poetry with you. quita

The winds whisper around my house like this sometimes when they are really strong. Before we had storm windows put on this house years ago, the winds were really loud and they sounded kind of scary! It's because this house is on a hill. I kind of like to hear them, myself. When my neices and nephews were small, though, it was scary to them.

Not extremely far from Austin, where I live, there is a very large, dome-shaped rock, the 2nd largest outcropping of rock in the world (the 1st being Ayers Rock in Australia--which is far larger). The local Amerinds believed it was inhabited by ghosts, because when you stand on it, you can hear "them" moaning. What makes the spooky sound is the holes in the rock (which I've never seen or found, but which I trust have been), which funnel passing winds through the huge dome. Just one of natures little oddities! Maggiepie Thomas Jefferson: " ... democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

As I recall the indians believed the wind was restless spirit and it's cry was of the wolf. The wind is scary to me too and with kids around I can only imagine how scary that would be for a kid. This old house creaks and squeaks and if you listen hard enough you are sure you hear voices...................
