| | Hello oldchem1. Why was D H Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover considered very "risque"? I'm asking because nowadays I tend to read and listen to opinions that the majority finds shocking or bad (in most senses of the word). I think the majority of people are being tricked so that they're eyes are shut and they can be controlled more easily. Since... the begging of time, maybe :)). | | | |

I know its illegal in germany and austria but even saying adolf hitler can result in a very very heavy fine and prison time you litrally can not own or say anything to do with the third rich in these countrys its like theyve tried to erase it from the history books but you can no denyt what happened. One book i soooo want is the alexanda livenyenko one its not even published anymore as its banned by the russian goverment i once saw a second hand copy on amazon for around 15k yeah i pretty much earn that much in a year. | | | | | | |

| | That's sad, impairing freedom of speech anywhere in the world is a crime, doesn't matter by who and on what subject. I find it stupid for this countries to deny their past and their legacy, good or not. Alexandre Litvinenko is a really good example of government tyranny. He was killed in 2006 after he fled Russia ( he was a secret service agent and he demasked a assassination plot, shortly after he was trialled and acquitted twice by russian tribunals) with polonium-210, a radioactive element...WOW! Witch book are you referring to? He wrote two of them: Blowing up Russia: Terror from within Lubyanka Criminal Group I would like to read them also. | | | |

| | I love the ideas of banning books in schools! Books being labeled as "banned" is the reason I started reading so heavily as a child. Currently on my bookshelf, I have several banned books which include: "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker, "Portnoy's Complaint" by Phillip Roth, "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky, "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote, and "Gone With The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell. As a preteen, my favorite author was Judy Blume because the subject matter in her books were so taboo! | | | | | | |

| | I do not own any banned book in our country. First it's hard to find. Our goverment is very efficient in banning the books on extreme political views or religious view. Besides, it's risky to own a book like this. I might be prosecuted if it's discovered. So, I better keep myself away from owing a banned book. It's much easier to access such information online nowadays. | | | | | | |
