Cute and Cuddly Rabbit Breed: English Lionhead Rabbit  email this discussion to a friend?

I have been taking care of my wife's English Lionhead buck for 2 years now. He is about 4 years old and quite huge for his kind only because he eats a lot. He is also a pet-quality rabbit not a show-type one. Anyway, I find them cute and cuddly because they are unique in a sense that they have manes hence the name lionhead. He is playful but often times quiet during the day, and active at dinner time. He needs to be groomed regularly even as close to everyday because he his a furry type rabbit and sheds a lot of his wool.

Feel free to share your thoughts on English Lionhead rabbits and even other rabbit breeds that you find cute and cuddly.

My family owns rabbits as well, we started off with a regular domestic rabbit. We were told by the person that sold him to us that he was a "dwarf" rabbit. He is the biggest dwarf I think I have ever seen.

Recently, we received another rabbit, after much research I found out that she is a Chinchilla rabbit, her fur is extremely soft. Her fur is the same color as the Chinchilla animal. She can be a brat though.

A few weeks back she was out having a stretch in our yard, she managed to escape, it took us another week to catch her and bring her home. Well, about 4 weeks after finally having her home again, we discovered something quite interesting. She came home pregnant. She gave birth to 5 babies, we lost two of them.

Yesterday, the babies opened their little eyes for the first time. It is so neat being able to watch them grow. It has been a true learning experience for my children.

Thanks for sharing! That's very interesting. My cousins used to breed rabbits way back and what they used to do was separate the litter from the mother every night because the field rats would usually try to eat them and sometimes, the mother might step on them.. just sort of a precautionary measure.

I believe the Chinchilla rabbits are part of the bigger and heavier rabbit breeds. I would like to have more rabbit breeds in the future from the mini-rex to the ever famous Flemish Giant.

I've had my lionhead for 3 years now and I love him so much. Definitely the most adorable breed of bunny. My fiance and I are currently fostering another lionhead right now. Their personalities are so different, but they're both such great companion animals.
