When you try to improve you skills in basketball, you need to compensate it with your body, like if you want to improve your ball handling, you will always have difficulty with it if your a big man. My mentality when i play is i always think of improving my self, or if you have a rival or a friend who is better than you, think of reaching the level of your rival.
