Yes there is a procedure now but it has to be done under ultrasound conditions plus it might not cure the problem. I understand that the problem with the back has to have reached a certain stage for the injections to be effective. Also most doctors would not allow the procedure more than a maximum of 4 times/year but obviously they would prefer that the patient received the injections less often than that.

well iam just 21 yr old and i have just almost recovered from this problem. Previously my condition was very critical, and i could not move even one metre properly. i consulted a doctor in Mumbai in India, and he had suggested me a complete bed rest for almost more than a month. After that he treated me with electro therapy, giving me very mild electric currents through my spine going downwards over my buttocks to my toe, which stimulated my nerves and thus helped my disc to get back into place. i would love to share his address to all those who are suffering from slip disc and are living in mumbai as he has recovered me back to normal from a very bad condition.

Yes, I had that injection a few years back when I was diagnosed with nerve compression in the lower part of the spine. It is actually only one of the treatments which was tried out on me to see if it could manage the pain. In some people, even the injection doesn't help much and their last resort to relieve pain will be by operation.

It depends on the severity of the compression for the shot to work or not. I know this because I have had reconstructive spinal surgery. My surgeon said that those shots would only last me a week because my problem was so bad, so I never got them. My surgery was a success though, and I'm happy now that I had it done. :-)
