what is your opinion about chemical engineering????  

I am a chemical engineering students and I have to say that its a pretty challenging course. Being a chemical engineer, you could work in any factory and the pay is average to lucrative, depends on the company you are working for. If you are working for those big companies like Shell, Exxon Mobil or even Guiness, the pay could be pretty high but usually they would prefer their own scholar students.

Its a very rewarding course though, you would have an understanding of how things get on the market, the production and manufacturing phase and generally get to work with really complicated machinery (boilers, turbines, distillation columns). The job is not without its hazards though, a simple fault in the process design or the process control units in a factory is fatal. The Buncefield incident comes to mind and the Longford incident in Australia.

The Bhopal disaster in India was a real fatal one. A simple introduction of water into a chemical called methyl isocyanate released vapor clouds which killed thousands of people in the nearby vicinity. These are the dangers associated with this particular profession but its the same as any profession, there are dangers in all industrial professions but the chemical engineers are the ones who will take the fall if it happens.

I have friends that are graduate of chemical engineering. They say its tough to finish the course but it will be worth it especially if you already have a license. There are really jobs out there that pays really high for chem engineers. Here in the Philippines the company that offers the highest pay according to my friends is Shell, one of the three biggest oil company here in our country.

Chemical engineering is one of the most challenging field in engineering.A chemical engineer generally studies about the different chemical processes like what are they,how to control them, how to get most output. A chemical engineer can get placement in petroleum sector,fertilizer sector or research sector.

i think chemical engineering is a good course offering a good future. but its important that someone who wants to took up this course to be really interested with the subject i think and he must really like it to make life easier. hehe
i have a cousin who's a chemical engineer already. and he really have great opportunities after he finish schooling and most specially after he gets his license. actually he's already working and living australia and working in one company there as a chemical engineer.so i think this is a good choice. challenging yes and again offers great opportunities.
