Some clinical rests say yeas and some say no. It was widely used by the American natives for over 400 years. It was used as a cure all. There are nine echinacea (or purple cone flowers) plants. They are not all good for treating colds or any thing else. Apparently only three are good as medicine.

Not all the companies that sell echinacea put the ingredients in the tea or capsule that they clam to.
Any one who are allergic to daisy or ragweed. In addition, people who have any auto-immune diseases including, but not limited to Rheumatoid arthritis, AIDS, Lupus, or M.S. there is a question of Echinacea interfering with the absorption of meds.
Echinacea should be treated like an other medication. Taken with caution.
