Amare Stoudemite could be the missing piece for the Cavaliers |
| |
| Back in February, there are trade humors that Amare Stoudemire could have been to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He keeps thinking from that time on that he could be headed to team up with Lebron James. But it all comes to naught as he stayed to play for the Suns. If Amare Stoudemire is their in the Cavs lineup, could he make the Cavs run for the championship? That is, he could be the missing piece for the Cavaliers team. | | | | | |

| | I don't think he is the missing piece for the Cavs. He is a great player but I think is offense i mainly attacking the basket which Lebron mostly do. I think what they need is a better point guard like, not a scoring point guard but a court general. Someone who can get the team easy shots so that Lebron won't have to work so hard. In the front court they might need a more defensive oriented player, someone who can defend pick and rolls. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, but Lebron also needs another player who can help him in scoring. That is the missing piece that Lebron needed in the playoffs. Someone who will stepped up to help him. And I think Stoudemire can fill in that help. | | | |

| | Amare Stoudemire could definitely make the Cleveland Cavaliers a lot heavier team but I don't think he'll be enough to help the Cavaliers win a title with LeBron James, they definitely need somebody else. One thing come in mind, a Jason Kidd or Steve Nash type point guard. Ideally, this would be the Cavaliers frontline with James and Stoudemire, Maurice Williams and Anthony Parker at guards, James and Antawn Jamison at forwards, and Stoudemire at center. JJ Hickson, Anderson Varejao, and Delonte West all could provide some spark off the bench but in order to turn the Cavaliers into a much solid title contender, I would like to add Jason Kidd in that line-up. Though he's old, Kidd could still play at a very high level and he could provide the leadership that Cleveland (or LeBron for that matter) clearly lacks. Apart from that, Kidd is a pure point guard than Williams and he could get the Cavaliers more involved. With Kidd and James getting the whole team involved, that would mean a lot of points for the team. Two more minor issues that I'd like to add to the Cavaliers should James and Stoudemire end up in the team. First is another legitimate center and second is a shooter. Shaquille O'Neal and Zydrunas Ilgauskas are all old and the Cavaliers definitely need somebody younger to compete with the likes of Dwight Howard. Having a shooter would definitely turn the Cavaliers into a much versatile team. Hedo Turkoglu is the name that I have in mind but for sure the Cavaliers will have some salary cap issues with him. Jason Kapono would definitely fit the bill for the Cavaliers. Too good to be true isn't it but Cleveland should first keep James and go after Stoudemire next. There's no way Stoudemire will end up in Cleveland without James or somebody to replace James such as Dwyane Wade or maybe Joe Johnson. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, maybe they also lack the court generalship of a pointguard. Mo Williams is not as good as that of Jason Kidd or a Steve Nash. But he can score. I would like to see that Lebron will be re-joining his team next season, playing alongside with Amare Stoudemire or a Chris Bosh. | | | |

| | Leadership is what I see Cleveland lacks. With the kind of roster they have in the past years and with LeBron James leading them, they're definitely a championship bound team season after season. James is undoubtedly good and the best player in the NBA right now but he's way too immature to lead the Cavaliers to a title. It's been tested and proven time and again that skills alone isn't enough to make a team win the title. The Portland Trail Blazers once had Rasheed Wallace, Scottie Pippen, Steve Smith, Damon Stoudamire, Arvydas Sabonis, Shawn Kemp, and Detlef Schrempf one time but fell short. The Phoenix Suns also had Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson, and Leandro Barbosa back in 2005 but lost to the much experienced San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. The Dallas Mavericks also lost to the 8th seeded Golden State Warriors in 2007 and the 7th seeded San Antonio Spurs just recently. The bottomline? The teams that defeated such talent laden teams have better leadership and experience. Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in defeating the Trail Blazers, the famed San Antonio trio over the Suns, and Don Nelson for Golden State and once again, the much experienced Spurs over the Mavericks. I firmly believe that Jason Kidd is what the Cavaliers are missing (or somebody of his caliber). He could be a mentor for LeBron James and JJ Hickson, two young Cavaliers with a lot of potential and promise. That if the Cavaliers could keep James for the 2010-2011 season. | | | |

| | Although he has no defense, Amare could be an x-factor in the playoffs more than Jamison. Jamison was traded because of his perimeter shooting which eventually was a failure against the Celtics. A problem that could arise is they are reunited with Shaq as well which did not do well in Phoenix. They have a potent front court but it would still be a toss up in the chemistry. | | | | | | |

| | I think Shaq will go to another team. This could be an opportunity for Amare Stoudemire to make a chemistry with Lebron. | | | |

| | Amare Stoudemite? I think that he is a good player who has quick movements good for a running team like the Suns and the Mavericks. I don't know if they will have a rhyme with Lebron if he's in Cleveland. However, it might be a good opportunity to see if they can work together. It's now time to see where Lebron is heading. If they team up somewhere, they will have a formidable lineup. | | | | | | |

| | I'm quite agree with this comment. The Cavs already has all the ingredients of a champion team with the addition of Jamison. But somehow Mike Brown didn't know how to mix these to have the right taste. So he has to go. | | | |

| | The Cavs are in a very tough spot. Shaq is old and a non-factor, basically. Jamison is an extremely overrated defender and an habitual underperformer on the offensive side of the ball. He stood out with Washington due to Gilbert's injuries and suspension problems. Anderson Varejao is like an athletic Arvydas Sabonis in terms of skill, West is a glorified spark plug and Mo Williams is a pure streak player. Without LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the New York Knicks with a worse head coach. It's going to take a lot of players to keep LeBron in Cleveland (unless he's looking at it through a loyalty standpoint... nobody knows). Stoudemire would conflict with James too much. If they do plan on keeping Shaq and Varejao, and now with the inclusion of JJ Hickson--6 foot 9 21-yr-old PF--who is going to emerge, Stoudemire would make five monsters in total, including James. The Cavs would be far too big to do anything. LeBron would lose all lanes. Nobody could play inside-out to provide medium range. The baseline wouldn't exist with another full court big body. And another "showtime" player would threaten LeBron's Peyton Manning-like on-court coaching ability. If they're going after a big-bodied scorer, they should go for someone much more slender, athletic and willing to be a team player. Chris Bosh would be the ideal, in my opinion. See if you can get another good year out of Shaq. Develop Hickson into a great NBA 6th man. Start Bosh at PF. Move LeBron permanent to SF and get over this weird point-forward crap of letting LeBron set the plays. Take your chances letting Anthony Parket play the 2 guard. And, for the love of Mike, get a pass-first point guard via free agency. Mo and Boobie cannot handle the pressure of clutch regular season, much less the playoffs. I'd trade out Anderson and Mo (release him maybe) and pick up Nate Robinson from the Knicks. Steve Nash would be the ideal, but based on the year they're having, he's likely to stay. | | | | | | |

| | no. no. no. Amare ain't the missing piece for the Cavaliers. a go to guy is a missing piece for the cavaliers. haha. Lebron being a free agent next year will be a big challenge for the cavaliers to retain him in the team. look, we all know he is an MVP twice in a row. carried the team to the playoffs, carried the team 60+ games twice in a row, but its incomplete. NO CHAMPIONSHIP. I'm telling you adding Amare is really not necessary for a team, that won't work without a superstar. FOr me, Amare ain't a go to guy, he is the second guy. it won't work when Amare and Lebron is in the Court. Amare wants run and gun offense, Lebron sets plays. Run run run + set plays? you get the point. | | | | | | |
