What are the things or factors you consider in buying a computer or some parts |
| |
| of a computer? I bought my computer several years ago. It was a package type. After a few months, I noticed that there are some problems with my computer. I don't know if the problem is with my monitor or with some hardware. We brought it to the pc shop for repairs. They just told us that the problem is with my monitor. After few months, I noticed my computer was in trouble again and it is with the hardware. The warranty period had already ended so I just brought my computer to a technician. Somehow, I realized if maybe I just bought parts of the computer and let a technician assembled my pc, I think my computer will function better. It is because I know what will be the are the hardware I have. What do you think? How about you? What are those things you consider in buying your computer or some parts of your computer? | | | | | |

| | It is always better to get an assembled pc with buying what we need.Branded computers always compensate on some aspects. But when we assemble a pc we can buy each part from the best manufacturer available.I am from India and in my case monitor and hard drives are samsung,RAM is transcend, dvd drive is LG,5.1 creative home theater, pentium core 2 duo processor etc.The components are subject to availability in your place. So what i say is first identify your needs that is,whether u want a gaming pc with high performance or you just want to watch movies and do home stuff with simple configuration or you need one for your profession with more features.Tell your needs to your technician and he will tell which configuration will be best for you and which is the best hardware available. cheers | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for the response. I just bought an ASUS lcd monitor. They say that LCD monitor is much better than CRT monitor. I am new with this wide screen monitor. They say that this type of monitor doesn't cause much electricity and it slow in getting heat. | | | |

| | hii..i use Samsung tft 19 inch wide screen monitor.Yeps,it is true.. LCD monitors are better than CRT monitors. CRT monitors consume more electricity than LCD monitors and the picture quality is also better in LCD.Another thing is no heating issues and requires less space. But one disadvantage is that most of the LCD monitors, if damaged cannot be repaired like CRT monitors.CRT monitors can be repaired just like television monitors.so LCD monitors are like use and throw stuff. But don't worry. It won't be damaged so fast and can be used for many years without any problems. | | | |

| | Hi annierose! When I buy a new computer, I will bring a list with me with what I use it for i.e. email, game playing, music. I will show it to the sales person and let him find me a computer that has what my requirements are. There is no sense of me buying a product with the latest in movie editing because I will probably never use that function. And don't buy the very first one you see. Shop around and find the best product at the best price. You can always but new hardware or software as the need comes up. | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for the very useful tip richnai. Having a list of what to buy before you go to a store will save not only your time but also your money as well. It is because you can think first of what paricular item to buy and think what is the best brand on that. So when you are already in the store, you can go right away with the specified products that you want. | | | |

| | It depends on what type of computer that you want. If is it only for typing, listen to your favorite music.. then consider to buy a package of standard pc but if it's for gaming or hardcore multimedia works I suggest to buy assemble parts of hardware. As for me the hardisk, processor and ram will be the priority component. | | | | | | |

| | I buy the required hardware and i assemble my own computer.. i don't look for any technicians to assemble my computer, becasue i myself a technician as of i'm an Electronics and telecommunication Engineer.. For ur better choice, u better buy a computer, so u could claim the warranty by going to the place where u buy the computer, they would do the rest.. if u assemble it, if any part is unfit then u have to take to the company directly for replacement | | | | | | |

| | It is more practical buying parts of computer and have a person assemble it if you are not a technician. That was what I learned based on my experiences. | | | |

| | It is practical indeed especially if you are a good talker then you can have the best part to be installed. | | | |

| | Oh, here we go. There are many things to look for when buying a computer. There is random access memory (RAM) which is how fast your computer is at opening things up and things like that. There is the hard-drive, which stores all your information. The processor, which helps speed up the computer. The operating system, which tells me which version I have. MAC OR WINDOWS. The big technological fight. For graphic designing, Mac is better. Mac also has a better interface. Windows is more for the average user and not the pro. Also, USB ports. The more the better and make sure that they're lined up properly. What I mean is that, if you plug in a big USB, will it block something? If there is a big plug next to the USB port, and your USB is big, will it fit? Appearance helps too, but that's not important to me. Graphics card which determines how your computer looks. Lastly, the way the computer is designed. If it's a laptop, how does it open? You push the little thing that unhooks the hooks or magnets, like a Mac. I think these are the most important things to look for in a computer. | | | | | | |

| | Very well explained fattymc.I don't have any experience using MAC version because I am just doing some paper and research work. I only use windows. It is also an advantage if there will be usb ports because flash drives replace what we used before which is the diskette. I do no longer use my floppy drive here. | | | |

| | Hello Annie!! One thing I learned when buying things not just computers is buy it brand new. For that it can ensure that you have the right warranty and you have the brand is also a very important factor for that.YOur warranty would really be worth it because they would give you better service. | | | | | | |

| | Instead of buying a used pc, it is safer to buy a brand new. That is what my mom keeps on telling to me whenever I want to buy not only a pc but it applies to all the things I am planning to buy. She always told me that one reason why people want to sell their gadget or machines is that because they are having a problem with it. I think mom is right. A person will not sell his gadget just because he needs money. There are also some other reasons which he won't tell to the buyers. | | | |

| | Hey annie!! One thing you should also think about is the quality of gadget that that person is selling. It might be defective and not working as expected that's why they are selling it. | | | |
