What are the things or factors you consider in buying a computer or some parts   

Thanks for the response. I just bought an ASUS lcd monitor. They say that LCD monitor is much better than CRT monitor. I am new with this wide screen monitor. They say that this type of monitor doesn't cause much electricity and it slow in getting heat.

hii..i use Samsung tft 19 inch wide screen monitor.Yeps,it is true.. LCD monitors are better than CRT monitors. CRT monitors consume more electricity than LCD monitors and the picture quality is also better in LCD.Another thing is no heating issues and requires less space.But one disadvantage is that most of the LCD monitors, if damaged cannot be repaired like CRT monitors.CRT monitors can be repaired just like television monitors.so LCD monitors are like use and throw stuff.But don't worry.It won't be damaged so fast and can be used for many years without any problems.

My friend says that CRT monitors only lasted for 2 years especially if it is always in used. This is the first time I will use an LCD. How many years LCD can be use?

for an average it lasts for about 5 years...i am using this monitor for 2 years and 3 months.

Thanks for the very useful tip richnai. Having a list of what to buy before you go to a store will save not only your time but also your money as well. It is because you can think first of what paricular item to buy and think what is the best brand on that. So when you are already in the store, you can go right away with the specified products that you want.

That is very true mrpostboy.When I was in college, I don't know much about computers. We bought a second hand computer for all we can afford that time is just a second hand type. However when I was starting to use MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint simultaneously, my computer hangs. When we brought it to the techincian, he said that my hard disk is very low and there was not insufficient memory for all those programs to run simultaneously. I learned a lesson from there. If you have to use more programs, choose a big hard disk and fast processor so your computer won't encounter much problem.

Good for you that you are a technician. When I had my first computer, I didn't know much about hardware. However, when I started to encounter many problems with the computer I am using, I begin to learn a lot of lessons. I would like to enroll on a vocational course in computer troubleshooting,if I would have more money. I also try to assemble a pc for myself. That is one of my greatest dream.

It is more practical buying parts of computer and have a person assemble it if you are not a technician. That was what I learned based on my experiences.

It is practical indeed especially if you are a good talker then you can have the best part to be installed.

Very well explained fattymc.I don't have any experience using MAC version because I am just doing some paper and research work. I only use windows.It is also an advantage if there will be usb ports because flash drives replace what we used before which is the diskette. I do no longer use my floppy drive here.

Instead of buying a used pc, it is safer to buy a brand new. That is what my mom keeps on telling to me whenever I want to buy not only a pc but it applies to all the things I am planning to buy. She always told me that one reason why people want to sell their gadget or machines is that because they are having a problem with it. I think mom is right. A person will not sell his gadget just because he needs money. There are also some other reasons which he won't tell to the buyers.

One thing you should also think about is the quality of gadget that that person is selling. It might be defective and not working as expected that's why they are selling it.
