The FIRST thing to do is to find a topic or 'niche' to market. This should, ideally, be something in which you have some interest and knowledge. Once you have decided on your 'niche' (using keyword research to help you find out what people are searching for on that topic), find the products in Clickbank which relate to that topic. Bear in mind that the most popular products and those with the highest commission are not necessarily the best to promote.

Ideally, you should purchase the product yourself: you cannot properly promote a product unless you have a good knowledge of it. If you are going to sell it, you will certainly expect to recover your costs! At least, read the squeeze page and make sure that it seems honest and doesn't 'over-promote' the product.

The final step is to promote the product. The cheapest way of doing this is through article writing. You can use sites such as Squidoo and Google Blogger, which are free, to do this. There are also many article publishing sites but, whatever service you use ALWAYS read the Terms and Conditions VERY carefully first, especially with regard to the posting of links. Some of them only allow links to the main page of a domain which means that you will have to purchase a domain which will redirect your potential customers to your Clickbank affiliate hoplink.

The author takes you through every step of choosing a niche, identifying a product and producing a Squidoo lens to promote it. Especially valuable is the 'Conversation with Nick' in which she describes in detail how she 'trialled' the course with a complete newcomer to affiliate marketing.
