Best Lightweight MP3 player for athletics & IPod question / issue.

It seems like every time I turn around I have lost another MP3 player that I use to workout with. I use them in the gym, for running, or biking on a trail.

I've tried $20 MP3 players and a couple of diff IPods. My kids have the expensive IPods, but I don't need the power and apps. I just want to play music and have an Ipod that doesn't easily slip away.

The other problem I have found with Apple is that the charger constantly goes out. Does anyone else run into that problem with you Apple MP3 or MP4?

I can revamp, but I just want to plug in and go. I love the music, but if loading and charging and finding songs or audiobooks starts delaying my workout I get frustrated.

Open to suggestions and what you have experienced.

Also do you have an armband with your IPod or clip it when you are working out? The neck string doesn't work. I don't even think Apple makes that anymore.

well, before my ipod, i used to have a creative muvo. i don't know if it's still out in the market. but my muvo was really lightweight. it's easy to use and to manage your music. plus, it doesn't need a connecting cable. it already has a usb module so you just plug it in a computer. aside from it being lightweight which is ideal for athletics, it also came with an armband. i'm not really athletic, i just used th armband when i was in school because it looked cool. :)
i think this kind of mp3 would be the best for you. the only thing that i didn't like about it is that it uses a triple A battery. it was a little unconvenient for me. but if you have rechargeable triple As and you have a charger then it's gonna work out great for you. i didn't have my own charger then so i had to share with my brother. oh, it has a good battery life too. so it wouldn't just run out while you're running :)
sadly, i don't know if it's still out in the market. but there's probably a similar creative mp3 or just an upgraded muvo.
