Do you believe the story of Noah's Ark? |
| |
| I want to know HOW a guy could gather every type of animal from all over the world and from all sorts of different climates and put them on a boat then keep them on that boat for 40 days and 40 nights (or whatever it was). And then, not only would he have to keep them on that boat for that long, but he kept them fed and alive AND from eating each other!?!? How did he keep the lions from eating the zebras? How did he keep them fed? What did the polar bears eat? How did they even survive? And then, he would have had to keep them fed after they were off the boat and keep them from eating each other. Plus, there are so many different breeds of cats and dogs and other animals. How was there even enough room for all these animals? What did the cats eat? How did he keep them away from the mice and rats? Can anyone explain to me HOW he did all of this??? Does anyone even think about these sort of things or does everyone just kind of blindly believe in it and everything? | | | | | |

| | But the answers to my questions aren't in the bible. I've read it and there's nothing that explains it. It just tells the stories. I believe that's all the bible is. Just a bunch of stories that never happened. | | | |

| | I never said it wasn't. I never even claimed it wasn't or gave the impression it was anything but opinion. I said it was what I believed which implies that it's nothing but opinion. | | | |

| | Actually, angels brought in the animals. As I read I found that there were cages for the animals. I don't think every kind of animals was kept that we have to day. There are a lot of cats we have today that have been developed since the flood. If a bird was able to bring back a leaf to the ark then no doubt there was plenty of greenery to eat. I imagine there were a lot of pregnant animals on board that were delivered after the flood and the meat eating animals no doubt fed off of them. I am sure a lot of unusual things happened. | | | | | | |

| | But the animals were still in different climates than what they're used to. And baby animals aren't much to eat and surely, there weren't enough to go around daily. There might have been greenery, but how did they go about collecting that greenery while the world was flooded? The carnivores would have to continue NOT eating the other animals because then the other animals wouldn't have been able to reproduce and create more if the carnivores kept eating them. | | | |

| | Those are hard questions to answer since the Bible doesn't really say how they lived after they left the boat. Noah did have food for them in the ark. As far as having come from different areas whose seasons may have been different, I was under the impression that different season didn't start until after the flood. There had been no rain before and that is why people made so much fun of Noah. Here he was building a boat when there had never been a rain or flooding of any kind. | | | |

| | Moses perhaps had narrated the story of Noah to the Israelite while they were wandering in the desert. He had done so just to reveal the redemptive features of God in men like Noah. To Israelite, rains and floods were not the known occurrences. Therefore, they did not know that the Ark is a mere curved vessel and not a ship. Only Ships have a hold to carry possessions of the kind that went in with Noah. Besides, to survive forty days in heavy floods the ship must have a bulk, volume, and watertight compartments. Further, such a ship ought to be built from highly seasoned wood. How was Noah able to build such a ship single-handed? Why not, some must have said? Since Noah lived in the woods, it was quite natural for him to be a skilled carpenter. Then there had been no rains before the deluge; therefore, long exposure to dry weather had naturally seasoned the wood. Be that as it may, the story of a charming ship builder; a sailing vessel with bowsprit and rigged masts; floating in flood; containing men, animal, etc., had been greatly fascinating to the people wandering in the desert. The story had not only raised their spirits but also had kept their hopes alive in desert at times when they were greatly distressed. The story of Noah had raised in them a hope; that later became real in Jesus. Through this story, Moses had revealed the redemptive plan of God for the humankind. | | | | | | |
